Commercial Description:
This Celtic Ale has been the flagship beer for GoldenValley Brewery since 1993. The Hops added to the kettle are Chinook, Liberty, Willamette, and Tettnag with Fuggles used in the steep for aromatics. The use of imported Crystal, Carastan, Roast, and Chocolate malts as well as domestic Two-Row malt creates a complex and bold profile which balances and enhances the aggressive hopping.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a very clear copper with a smooth off-white head. Malty throughout with a kinda earthy/dry flavor to the malts and a light toastiness. Finishes with a nice blend of hops to balance it out.

Bottle. Poured pale red with thin fast dissipating head. Mild hoppy aroma. Light tangy flavour with a slim body. Light hop finish. I would not call this aggressively hopped or a complex beer.

Deep amber body iwth a small creamy white head. Nice hoppy gently barrel-esque nose with some malty character. Flavor is decently floral and semi-sweet, but finish is watery and a bit disappointing. Pretty easy drinking brew.

For a flagship beer I expected more from this. It was just too light for my taste. That does not mean it is a bad beer, I just expected more from it. A nice malt complexity and some nice hop varieties are showcased here, and it is very easy to drink.

Explodes out of bottle with five+ finger cream head that fades to a ring leaving some lace. Cloudy amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Hoppy/caramel nose. Starts sweet becomes balanced then slight bitter/hoppy finish. $1.40 for a 12oz bottle from Liquid Solutions Tigard, Or.

[Tap – Brewery] Slightly reddish colored brew with a good head. Seemed to try t o have a complex amount of flavors this was becoming even a better beer for this brewery. They defiantly keep the flavor for the masses and not a specific type of brew. Not too bad.

A bit of an empty flavor in my opinion. Lacks any real hop element, but has a sweet malt flavor that makes it extremely easy to down. Maybe a good session beer, but nothing to write home about.

On tap at Golden Valley Brewery. Reddish-copper. Smoked malt flavours, quick finish. Similar to a Smithwick’s, but a touch weaker and thinner. IT was obvious why this is their ’flagship beer’ - it’s one of the few worth the time.
