Malty throughout with a kinda earthy/dry flavor to the malts and a light toastiness. Finishes with a nice blend of hops to balance it out. troopie (915), USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 16, 2008 Bottle. Poured pale red with thin fast dissipating head. Mild hoppy aroma. Light tangy flavour with a slim body. Light hop finish.
I would not call this aggressively hopped or a complex beer. Angeloregon (2038), Portland, Oregon, USA

Nice hoppy gently barrel-esque nose with some malty character. Flavor is decently floral and semi-sweet, but finish is watery and a bit disappointing. Pretty easy drinking brew. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jan 2, 2006 For a flagship beer I expected more from this. It was just too light for my taste. That does not mean it is a bad beer, I just expected more from it. A nice malt complexity and some nice hop varieties are showcased here, and it is very easy to drink. jimhilt (1695), Bow, New Hampshire, USA

Slightly reddish colored brew with a good head. Seemed to try t o have a complex amount of flavors this was becoming even a better beer for this brewery. They defiantly keep the flavor for the masses and not a specific type of brew. Not too bad.

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 25, 2006 A bit of an empty flavor in my opinion. Lacks any real hop element, but has a sweet malt flavor that makes it extremely easy to down. Maybe a good session beer, but nothing to write home about. linc33 (177), Albany, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 2, 2006 On tap at Golden Valley Brewery. Reddish-copper. Smoked malt flavours, quick finish. Similar to a Smithwick’s, but a touch weaker and thinner. IT was obvious why this is their ’flagship beer’ - it’s one of the few worth the time.
