3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Koelschtrinker (7060) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 23, 2011

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Maria (8586) - Thisted, DENMARK - JUN 24, 2008
May 01. 2008. On tap at Brauerei zum Goldenen Adler/Braueregasthof Endres. This clearly was one of the best beers we had on our Bamberg trip. It’s the only beer this brew pub makes at the moment, and each batch is 4000 liters. The color is dark brown-red amber with a dense head. The aroma has a lot of caramel, toffee and slightly roasted malt. The flavour has a lot of smooth and delicious caramel and toffee, a very light (but pleasant) malty sourness, smooth light sweetness and a light grapefruit bitterness. The body is full, smooth and very harmonic - it’s truly nice, and if you are close to Höfen (a little north of Bamberg) - go for it!
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 FatPhil (6210) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - SEP 26, 2007
500ml bottle (One Pint, Helsinki, German Beer Days 2007) Shared with Tranquility.
Very sweet malty aroma. Even sweeter to taste. Slightly sticky it’s so sweet, but at least it has some bitterness to liven it up. Sut still too sweet. Oh - look out for the pickled onions in the aroma. (no, not vinegar, actual pickled onions.)
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Tranquillity (1338) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 22, 2007
Bottled, had at the German weeks at One Pint Pub in Helsinki, together with fatphil. Under the name "Goldenen Lagerbier", I hope it’s the same. It looks like a real ale, since it’s from a big barrel. Dark-brown, see-through. Weird aroma. Wheat? Sweet? Taste a bit... malty? Very hard to place the flavours in this one. Too sweet for me anyway. Corn syrup maybe? Worth trying anyway, very different for a German beer.
