3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sammy (6129) - Toronto, - MAR 29, 2007
Brewed exclusively for Hop In Brew pub in Calgary. I don’t believe I have met a triple I didn’t like and this is no exception, but it is not the best tripel I have had. Good yeast aroma and its in the taste but there is a dominant sour taste that detracts and gives it an apple cidery characteristic. Yeasty mouthfeel contributes to a certain satisfaction. There is some lace.

Custom Brewed by Alley Kat for Hop in Brew... pours thick golden colour, white head... sweet and sour, like a tripel should be.... quite strong.... a bit yeasty. Quite enjoyable!
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 fiulijn (10421) - Como, ITALY - AUG 5, 2008
Draught at Hop In Brew Pub, Calgary; they say that it’s brewed at the pub... Hazy blond color. Very strange beer: there is some plastic aroma (and maybe flavor), some sweetness (therefore the body is quite round), very light fruity touch, maybe spices, ordinary bitterness. Chaotic.

I had a pint last night and was a little disapointed. I thought I liked this better but may be confusing it with the Two Gun. Took a little while to pour and settle. Dark yellow with a good head. I found it too sweet and a bit heavy. May have been too many beers last night. I will try it again.

Had this at Hop In Brew this weekend and was blown away! The bartender told me it was brewed by Alley Kat, but it isn’t listed on their website so I contacted them directly. Neil Herbst promptly replied to my enquiry, confirming that Alley Kat brews this proprietary beer from Hop In Brew’s own recipe. It is absolutely fantastic! Cloudy yellow with a merangue-like white head, it smells like a cross between a delicious banana cream pie and a christmas cookie. On the palate is a warming concoction of banana, vanilla cookie, sweet spices and a hint of bubblegum and yeast. You would never know that there is 11% alcohol lurking in this delicious beer-- dangerously delicious! A house brew to be extremely proud of.
