Darker in color. Just your average euro dar lager, a real mutt of a beer, especially in color.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
330 ml can. From Israel.
Clear deep golden colour with small white head.
Dark Lager? Well this isnít dark. Aroma is metal, malt and mild sugary alcohol sweetness. Flavour is pretty much the same... well... less metal. Just a tiny drop of hops in aftertaste. Drinkable but gives nothing.

Off-white head, light creamy, brownish color. Malty, light grainy aroma. Flavor is malty, light caramelic, notes of roasted malt. Not bad.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
I have not had Gold Star since the last time I was in Israel in 2006. At the time I thought it was pretty tasty but, when its 35 degrees outside, everything tastes good. So, lets see if my favorite beer from Israel still makes the cut. Nice colour, amber, with a slight copper sheen. Foamy white head, low retention. Aroma is mild nutty and malty with a very dough like smell to it. Tastes alright light and malty slightly sweet. It reminds me of Euro lager. All in all its pretty good, but, I must say I think the over whelming heat was a huge contributing factor to my enjoyment of this beer. But, that being said It still holds a special place for me. No beer will ever taste as good as my first Goldstar at the gas station in Beit Guvrin.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Light amber. A little bit dull, with a fizzy head. The aroma is mostly grainy, maybe with a light alcohol note. Taste is mostly watery, with light graininess and a hint of alcohol late.

0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle. You call this dark? Itís barely darker than a pale lager, is very dull, rusty pale copper the color of a 20y y.o. penny. No head or lace. Smells like electrical wire and farm animal feed. The first sip is terrible, with sour malt flavors lingering. Slimy palate. Flavors of animal feed and wet, low-grade cereal waste. Pure industrial soulless crap. When the tongue becomes attenuated to the nastiness it becomes remotely drinkable but better off down the drain.
