Can aboard a Delta flight. Odd that I’d find this on a flight from Ireland to the US; obviously the aircraft had been on a run to Tel Aviv. I drank a lot of this when I was in the country in the 2001 time-frame. I can’t say I was impressed then, and this didn’t do anything to change my mind. Darker than I expected, amber-gold with a major head of airy off-white foam. The aroma is that of a corny mash, and it drinks with a super sweet corn thing, very sweet and sugary. There’s not much backbone to it, unfortunately, but there is a bit of a tangy finish. (#3681, 9/16/2009)

Location: A beer that is pretty easy to find in it’s home nation of Israel
A not very interesting beer at all. I was very underwhelmed by the beers from Israel that I drank when I went there a few years ago.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
First and probably last Israeli beer. Crystal clear pale yellow color with no head. Grainy aroma with a slightly malty flavor. Palate was very light, extremely watery, and flat.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Generally a watery, basic, nothing special beer. Can’t said I’ve ever heard of an israeli beer before, so at least it had a little novelty going for it. No head, no particular aroma, tastes just the way that you’d expect a lager to taste...

Light light unclear light to medium orange color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, molasses, caramel, sugar. Flavor is moderate sweet, light acidic and bitter with a average duration, and some sour notes. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft to flat.

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz, I think possibly my first Israeli beer, at Cafe Mogador today. Pours orange with a 2 finger tan head. Nose is sweet. Taste is sweet lil bitter, overall a decent pale lager refreshing.

Courtesy of Fonefan. It is warm golden with a white head. The aroma has a light sweetness and notes of malt and light candy sugar. The flavour has the same notes and it is pretty dull.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Goldstar is a crystal clear golden beer with a creamy off-white head that has good retention and lacing. There’s not much aroma-- maybe funk and lemon. It is light bodied and smooth with a clean finish. There’s not much flavor. It’s a little funky, almost salty, a touch sweet with a hint of lemon. It’s OK.
