500mL Bottle, purchased at Nikki’s Liquors - Providence, RI. Pungent and tangy smoke aroma, mid-level-intensity and of smoke cheese residue, largely. Pours clearish amber-orange, with a nice off-white lace. Nice fresh body, with good fluffiness and a good tooth. The smoke flavor is not intense enough and is characterized largely by a slightly tangy, smoked cheese or almonds residue. It doesn’t have fresh, forward campfire or wood smoke, somehow. Finishes on a bit of yeast and hops. Decent, but not the best.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!
Farblich recht hell für ein Rauchbier. Sieht aus wie ein etwas dunkleres Lagerbier. Der Geruch ist sehr rauchig, nach Schwarzwälder Schinken. Der Antrunk ist erst röstmalzig, das erwartete Raucharoma kommt erst im Nachgeschmack hinzu. Zum Mittelteil hin wird’s ein wenig süßer, wobei das Rauchige konstant enthalten bleibt. Als Rauchbier-Liebhaber mag ich dieses Bier natürlich. Ein etwas milderes Rauchbier, aber nichtsdestotrotz sehr lecker!

(bottle) pours a clear copper-amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of smoked ham, baked apple, hay and white grapes, quite estery. flavour is mostly smoked ham in the foreground, which fades into barnyardiness and a minerally finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

(Flasche) Das Bier ist Cognac-Farben mit fast weißer Schaumkrone und klar filtriert. Das Aroma ist stark rauchig , aber nicht aufdringlich. Geschmacklich ist es weniger rauchig als erwartet mit einem schwach röstigen Hintergrundgeschmack. Die einzige Bittere die ich schmecke ist die vom Röstmalz. Es ist etwas zu stark karbonistiert. Zusammengefasst ist es etwas schlank für ein "rauch"-Märzen aber sonst lecker.

[10/4/11] Bottle at Ølbaren in Copenhagen. Clear deep red-amber color with a huge white head. Aroma of smoked sausages. Smoked flavor with meat, some wood and a bit of caramel. Medium-bodied.

Looking at the other reviews, it seems like this beer has loads of different appearances. This one was a draught at Ølbaren, Copenhagen, and had an transparent brown color with a tan head and a mild smoky and malty aroma. Tasee is sweet caramel, mild smoke, no bitterness. Slightly boring beer, light body, soft carbonation.

Bottled 50cl. Appearance: It pours a much paler beer than expected- clear deep golden to light amber with a nicely remaining, lacing off white head. Aroma: Walnuts, marzipan, candy sugar and beechwood showing up. Malt accented. Fruity (apple, pear). Taste and palate: Sweet malty. Fruity with dried apricot sneaking in. Beechwood being quite present. Average carbonation. Late moderate bitterness. Earthy herbal hops, grass which has been laying in the sun and dried apricot in the finish which is dryish. Overall impression: Surprisingly pale appearance, light smoky components. Balanced and pleasant.

Bottle. Light smoked ham and malt aroma. Cloudy golden with a small off white head. Tastes like is smells, woody smoked ham and malt. Slight dry, bitter finish. Light to medium body.
