Pint at Bedford Bamberg Beer Festival 2015. Dark ruby with a beige creamy head. Nutty, smoky scent with a hint of forest fruit. Ambrosial taste with a smoky sweetness riding the initial bitter flavour. The bitterness re-asserts itself on the finish. A gorgeous smoked beer.

Countbeer (5148) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - APR 15, 2015
Bottle (50cl): Served in a Chouffe glass: Clear ruby colored beer with a creamy light beige head. Aroma is nice snokey, typical German style smoke, nice. Flavour is also delicious smokey with some malts, herbs, caramel, light grainy and some light sweet tones but obvious more bitters. Aftertaste is light snokey, some bitters and malts. Low carbo, creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied.

16.9oz bottle (label states 4.9% ABV) - nose is what I smell like after a three day camping trip. Sip adds floral notes and caramel. Sweetness pervades. Noticeable smoke but I’m not saying "I hate squirrels" or anything like that. I would pair this with Cajun food or BBQ. Light and smoky. Why isn’t there a Session Smoked category? Grassy aftertaste. Wife calls it stinky feet.

Pour amber to dark brown colour with a sizeable and unstable head. Decent lacing. Promising aroma of ham, caramel with a vestige of dark chocolate, grain - nice, almost intense enough. Some metalic tones are discernible at firs but they vanish into thin air when the beer gets warmer. Ham or bacon smokiness is more present in the taste, light caramel and chocolate play a minor role but can be found as well. Smoke and light herbal bitterness in the aftertaste. A very good choice when you don’t want to go to extremes (by extremes I mean Schlenkerla) but still are panting for a bottle of smoked beer.
