3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours light copper with a short lived head and nice lacing. Sweet caramel malt aroma with firm spalt hop presence. Great crystal balanced by hop flavour. Water perhaps overcompensates the big crystal character. Dry, bitter finish. Very good ipa balancing the malt of the uk with the hop rates of the us.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Fruity, juicy fresh aroma. Grapefruit, mango, a bit of orange and nafta. Hazy, golden color, small white head. In taste a lot of oily and nafta like notes. Typical NZ hops. On the back end some fruits and rather medium bitterness, but it’s pleasant, short, good quality. Good mouthfeel, refreshing, crisp. Quite a good beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
1l bottle. Fresh happy aroma with a significant bitter kick. Possibly too much bitterness as there seems to be very little else going on. Still enjoyable.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a slightly hazy light amber with fluffy white head that doesn’t stick around for too long. Moderate aromas of tropical fruits balanced by an earthy, bready note. Flavours bring spicy and tropical hops with a bready malt base. Fairly bitter with citrus and alcohol in the finish. Medium light bodied and moderately high carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
I had this quite a while ago, in an uncanny can with a Boticelli image and a Maori name. I have no notes, but I remember it being lovely, full of fruits (grapefruits, passion and melons) on the nose and flavours. One of those typical New Zealand IPAs with delightful hoppy sensations that we’re so proud of. Named after a soon-to-be compulsory holiday, but still beautiful as that Italian Venus.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pale gold with a faint haze and a bright white head that left good lace down the side of the glass. I got so into drinking this beer that there is barely an inch of it left in the glass for me to review. The aroma is of honeydew melon, hibiscus, lemon curd and herbal hoppiness. It’s a tasty beer too. All of those flavours in a spritzy, zesty mouthful that springs from the glass and slaps your tongue around with citric bitterness that goes on and on and on. It is truly lipsmacking and I dearly hope this isn’t a limited release. I want more... lots more.

This is lighter in scale than many IPAs of my acquaintance, but then I have been surprised to find that colour is not necessarily equitable to flavour. This had a white head that formed a gibbous crescent over the top of the body. The scent is grassy with lemon peel and pith as well as some gooseberry in the aroma. The flavour is bright, zesty and charming, highlighting the difference in tasting it at its source and 1,000km away in Christchurch at The Brewery. It seems fresher and more alive and has a tangier finish.
This was a charming IPA but somewhat light for its 5.8%abv and would probably struggle when pitted against bigger IPAs of the same abv. On its own though, the numbers speak for themselves. This also points to the fact that we have an embarrassment of excellent IPAs in this country. This one seems to bear some good similarities with Three Boys IPA.

Clark Kent at first, a bit unassuming. Light and clean but flavoursome. A brief zesty burst of the expected tropical/citrus with a hint of green melon, then a long thin finish of mandarin and pith. Improved as it warmed in the glass, I found myself enjoying this more and more. Good stuff

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Fairly strong malt and alcohol, quite a nice balance for the hops. The hops arent too strong, especially on the aroma, but are nice. Has german style hops, slightly spicy whereas Im more of a US/NZ fruity citrus hop man. A well made enjoyable beer

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
This is really muted and dulled down, there isn’t much of any of the things, Aroma, Palate, Taste, but where they are is nice, giving you a quaffing beer of some ease, tempered by the slightly over average ABV, Bit up for the linger though, really enjoying that. I’d buy this again as it comes in a dinky little 32oz bottle that calls to nostalgia and a hat tip to ’merica where it’s a thing. The 32oz that is not the Good George.

UPDATED: APR 28, 2016 Tasty brew that is good for a session and is perfectly enjoyable if you’re only having 1 drink. Moderately hoppy citrus + pine aroma and a taste that matches the aroma, unlike some IPAs that can fail to live up to the promise of the first sniff. Just as good in a bottle as on tap, but the head is a touch frisky
