Pours light copper with a short lived head and nice lacing. Sweet caramel malt aroma with firm spalt hop presence. Great crystal balanced by hop flavour. Water perhaps overcompensates the big crystal character. Dry, bitter finish. Very good ipa balancing the malt of the uk with the hop rates of the us.

This is lighter in scale than many IPAs of my acquaintance, but then I have been surprised to find that colour is not necessarily equitable to flavour. This had a white head that formed a gibbous crescent over the top of the body. The scent is grassy with lemon peel and pith as well as some gooseberry in the aroma. The flavour is bright, zesty and charming, highlighting the difference in tasting it at its source and 1,000km away in Christchurch at The Brewery. It seems fresher and more alive and has a tangier finish. This was a charming IPA but somewhat light for its 5.8%abv and would probably struggle when pitted against bigger IPAs of the same abv. On its own though, the numbers speak for themselves. This also points to the fact that we have an embarrassment of excellent IPAs in this country. This one seems to bear some good similarities with Three Boys IPA.

Citrus and floral notes dominate. Good balance sweet/bitter taste more like a new age Pale Ale than a classic IPA. A superb ale.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2014 A bit weak for an ipa. The tast is ok but the bear lack of hoppy aroma. But still, a beer Ive liked !

The citrus aroma hits first , surprising when the pale color is taken into account . The hoppy taste hits and stays . I personally love the bitter taste in the back of the throut that stays for a while . Its a bit light on the palate however its a beer Id defiantly drink again . I got this off the tap at a pub so was pleasantly suprised by the quality .

Keg - SkySport Grill, Auckland. Clear golden with a small, fading white head. Lemon, grapefruit, yeasty esters, grassy and leafy hops with good malt character providing body. A clean, crisp IPA with solid balance. Light to medium body belying the strength somewhat. Soft carbonation and a lingering, dry finish.

The head is ok, the body golden. It smells hoparomatic, fruity, amazing fresh. The taste is a bit malty, very hoppy-aromatic, lemon, greapefruit, lemongrassy, fresh, refreshing, super delicious! 12/14/14/13//14

Draft at the source. Clear golden amber color, white head, solid lacing. Aroma of pineapple, citrus. Taste is bitter fruit and straw, well balanced.

UPDATED: DEC 16, 2013 A middle of the road brew with no great features or faults. Probably more a Pale Ale than an IPA to my mind/taste though.

Bright and quite earthy, toasty on the nose and a similar palate. Less hoppy than the sparkling. On the light side all around.

Redcurrants and mango on the nose. medium high carbonation and pithy bitter burst followed by sweet mango and long dry bitter finish. this is more like it! burnished gold with nettle hop notes in aftertaste.
