Extremely dark mahogany brown with a moderate off white swirl/spotting atop the glass.
Nose is bitter roast, coffee, bitter espresso, smoke.
Taste comprises bitter roast, cocoa, coffee, dark toffee ring, light campfire.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Solid bitter roaster.

To me being from the area where this is made makes no sense at all to go crazy for something that is this mediocre [at best]. Its way too hoppy first of all and that honestly probably ruins what otherwise might make a decent beer [ not a great one]. This in my opinion, because it is local, is akin to that of government subsidized beer much like GM is to automobiles. Support it and love it even if it isnt deserving of the support because its local.

Tasting at Bruce’s. Can thanks to Colin. Opaque dark brown beer, good vibrant tan head. Palate is smooth and airy. Very nice mild carbonation. Malt starts smooth but it has a very unpleasant burned note, I don’t mean roasted, I mean properly burmed, acrid and bitter. Little coffee. Smooth finish. Pretty unpleasant.

Can shared in London - thanks, Colin. Pours clear brown with a creamy beige head. The nose has strong roast, burnt toast and milk chocolate. Light to medium sweet flavor with sturdy roasted malts, dark bread, light earthy bitterness, further milk chocolate. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Decent balance to finish with slight bittersweet cocoa, burnt wood, earth. Nice one.

Can thanks to Colin. It pours darkest brown with a small tan head. The nose is earthy, toast, candy, caramel, coffee, cocoa and milk chocolate. The taste is toasty, earthy, cocoa, burnt notes, mild acidity, charred wood with a dry, roasty finish. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Burned.com but the best al tick I’ve had.

On tap at Chattahoochee Brewing Co in Phenix City, AL. Nitro version. Pours opaque black with thick nitro head. Aroma is great, roasty cocoa notes with hints of coffee beans. Taste is creamy chocolate, whipped cream and roasted coffee malts. Some lingering bitterness. Good flavor, just not super refined, like a left hand milk stout. Palate is thick and creamy, as expected from a nitro pour. Overall, surprisingly good. Really enjoyed this one.

Draft, pours brown/black with thin off white head. Aroma of coffee, caramel, chocolate, vanilla. Taste is sweet front with bitter finish. Medium + body.

Full-flavored coffee and roast, with a lot of hopping. The coffee is a fresh-brewed-tasting component of the beer. Not too dark or mealy, and with a very clean finish.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2014 Many coffee stouts are much better. Sweet with a bitter punch. Nice coffee carbonation.
Update from can. Over carbonation. Nice at 6 percent. average. doesnt seem as much coffee as just dark roast grain.
