3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 hopscotch (7535) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 2, 2011
Bottle… Pours brown (nearly black) with a large, fizzy, khaki head. Great retention. The bouquet offers caramel, toasted nuts, coconut and a splash of bourbon. Medium-bodied and way over-carbonated (Champagne-like, actually). The flavor presents coconut, malty-bourbony sweetness and mild acridness. Finishes crisp, sand-papery and bone-dry. Probably a bug in the barrel. Too bad, because it really detracts from the overall body. Still a fairly tasty treat. Kudos to Elliesbrown for shipping the bottle my way!
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pailhead (3437) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - SEP 23, 2011
Bottle: The aroma consists of heavy roast and oak along with coffee. It pours a dark brown with orange highlights and a large beige head. The flavor starts with caramel that is quickly overtaken by lots of coffee and light oak. Medium bodied with lively and prickly carbonation. Overall, it would be a nice coffee stout if the carbonation wasn’t so lively.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 bittermestupid (247) - Canton, Ohio, USA - MAY 21, 2011
Dark brown almost black with tan head. Dark roasted coffee, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and sweetness from the oatmeal. Coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and some creaminess. Mouthfeel some what light and the finish is long roasted bitterness. Nice beer.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BeerHawk (1635) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - MAR 13, 2011
Bottle # 115, bottled 15 Dec 10. Poured black with a creamy brown head that had a thin layer lasting and left thick lacing. Big aroma of whiskey with a malt backing. The flavor found whiskey, vanilla, milk chocolate, and coffee. Medium body with a whiskey and coffee aftertaste.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 rlaw (814) - Alabama, USA - FEB 27, 2011
Bottle. Pours dark mahogany with a huge off white head. Aroma of rich roasted malt, some chocolate and coffee. Flavor is much mellower than GPBC’s regular coffee oatmeal stout. Coffee is much better integrated. Foams a lot, but the carbonation is quite soft; nice smooth, round mouthfeel.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 illinismitty (2269) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - FEB 14, 2011
Batch 6, shared by Unclejedi. Pours black with a brown head. Aroma of dark roasted malts and piney hops. Medium bodied with an earthy texture and semi soft carbonation. Flavor of dark roasted malts with a hint of juniper and licorice, countered by spicy hops. Some oak on the dry finish. A little different from most other BA stout examples.
