Appearance: Pours out a hearty-looking, near black body layered with a wispy, tan-hued head. Smell: Roasty-scented aroma of chilled, concentrated coffee. Supporting malt notes of chocolate ganache, blackened barley, and licorice, with lesser hints of vanilla and good, wholesome chimney soot for a bit of smokiness. Ripe dark fruit character. Taste: Roasty, coffee-toned maltiness with full tastes of dark chocolate, lightly smoked vanilla beans, and black licorice. Moderate degree of sweetness. Dark fruitiness yielding undertones of black cherry and prunes. Decent dose of hops provide, along with the roastiness, a solid balancing bitterness. Lingering taste of robust coffee beyond the drying finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium-low carbonation. Smooth, tongue-coating mouthfeel. Drinkability: A mighty fine Imperial Stout from Alabama tha-- Geez Louise, who imagined we’d live to see the day we’d be able to say that.

On tap at a pizza place in Birmingham. Nearly black with a creamy tan head. Coffee, chocolate, a little smoke and brown sugar. Very smooth.

64oz growler courtesy of brentfeesh for growler swap 3.0! thanks, brent! pours a slick, slightly viscous, deep brown that sits damn near black in the glass and is capped by a rich, creamy, dark mocha head that leaves thick, glass-staining legs. aroma is great with big notes of rich, dark chocolate, heavy roast, and great smoky elements of campfire and bacon that are backed by notes of brown sugar, coffee beans, and toasted vanilla cookies. flavor is outstanding as well, pretty bold actually, with huge notes of smoked malts, very intense espresso, bitter cacao chocolate, and burnt toast backed by hints of licorice, vanilla, plum skins, and dry earth. palate is on the heavier side of medium bodied with smooth carbonation and a long, heavily roasted, bitter finish. overall, a really well done imperial stout.

Poured from a growler shared by weihenheizen. Thank you! Appearance is a dark brown, near black with a khaki to grey-ish head of foam. Aroma is a little bit smoky with huge influences of dark chocolate and toasty coffee beans. Roasty taste, almost burnt, but not quite. Long, lingering roasty finish. Nice sipper.

Growler compliment of brentfresh. Pours opaque black with dark brown hightlights and small light brown head. Some lacing, thick body, low carbonation, and roasted malt aroma. Taste is burnt malt, espresso, coffee, some mocha, and finishes with some light bitter hops.

Draft at J.Clyde. Black pour with a tan top. Scent is coffee, dark sugar and smoke? Taste is roasty, hoppy and coffee. Very nice!

On draft from Highland Package in Birmingham. Pours almost black with a thick tan head that settles to a nice ring. Aroma of coffee, roast, and chocolate. Bracing roast bitterness, that brings to mind coffee although it is not prominent in the taste. Well carbonated, finishes bitter with the roasts dominating.

Draft. Pours near black with a beige head. Big dark chocolate aroma, with roasted malts, coffee, and vanilla. The flavor has hard roasted malts, lightly smoked malts, coffee, and some light dark chocolate sweetness. Good stuff.

bomber thanks to bleeng. Bottle #60 of 72. Shared with TexasJeep. Pours black with a light-brown head. Nose is of chocolate and roast malt. Taste is of chocolate and burnt malt. Mouthfeel is medium with some hops bitterness. Pretty good.

@dstructos Daks Back-22 ozbottle-pours a tan head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty. Taste is dark malt-roasty, spice/earthy hops bite.

Growler… Murky dark brown ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. The nose furnishes molasses, tobacco and Cuban mocha. Full-bodied with prickly carbonation. The flavor is lightly oxidized, but very nice and well balanced – deeply roasted and carbonaceous; mild hop bitterness and cafe con leche sweetness. Hearty mocha and mild molasses finish.
