3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 unclemattie (3352) - USA - SEP 10, 2008
2008 Southern Brewers Fest. Tap. Cloudy orange, thin white head. Big floral nose. Lots of citrus hops. Flavor is nice, cool crisp malt. Dominated by a heavy citrus bitterness. Classic big hopped American beer. Lots of dry-hop, C-note, PNW hops are present in this classic American IPA. Light bodied, rich citrus hop flavor.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 vyvvy (2920) - Florissant, Missouri, USA - MAY 28, 2012
Thanks to Seymour for this one. Pours amber with an off-white head. The aroma has cream, toasted malt, caramel, tropical notes and off-fruitiness. Medium body with mild carbonation. The flavor starts tinny and thin with dry malt, cream and hardly a note of hops. The finish is very metallic and minerally. Probably old, but no date could be found on the can.

Courtesy of markwise. Thanks Mark. 12oz can pours clear copper with near frothy tall light tan head. The aroma delivers earthy malts, some roasted malts and some resiny hops that have a floral component to them. The taste has a nice level of bitter to resiny hops as well as a touch of soapiness. The hops surface in the form of resiny pine and bitter floral hops. The hops and malts don’t come together all that great but it certainly attains a decent level of hop bitterness, so there’s that.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 seymour (786) - Saint Louis, Missouri, USA - MAY 4, 2012
Thanks, brentfeesh. Tasted from 12oz can into tulip glass. Aroma was extreme citrusy and earthy hops, nothing else whatsoever. Flavor was one-dimensional hops too, entirely masking all malt and fermentation aspects. I have a feeling this is what it tastes like when you brew a high-IBU recipe with 100% whole hops (as opposed to hops pellets or extract), thus leaving mass quantities of dissolved vegetable matter in solution. I wanted to like this beer and brewery, but it was pretty bad. Hopefully it was just a bad batch, or expired or something. Obviously, many other raters loved it.

Real funky. Good aroma, but tastes off. Thanks Brentfeesch (by way of Seymour). Very hoppy, but not in a good way. "Its no bueno" says Nadya. No balance.
