Reviewed 3/1/13. 22 oz bottle into a nonic pint glass. A: Pours a hazy copper color. The head is a two finger offwhite shade with many of the usual characteristics in an IPA (okay retention, good texture, nice patchy lacing on the glass). Pretty standard IPA appearance. S: The hops bring both a good deal of grapefruit peel/flesh, and permutes into a piny, peppery aroma after opening up some. Caramel malts provide the backbone. Very good, especially considering it seems to be a typical "crystal malt and pine hops" IPA Iím oh-so-used to on the right coast. T: Iím really enjoying the grapefruity hops that open the palate up. As the flavor progresses, it shifts from grapefruit to bright, piny qualities on the finish and aftertaste. The malt profile helps to keep things in check without overpowering. While it doesnít really have any standout qualities to it, the finesse and refinement of the execution is what makes this a great IPA. M: Itís thick and creamy, yet dry all at the same time. Hop resins accumulate on the palate to a very pleasant level. Thereís just something about it that gives an incredibly íbrightí feel to it. O: Itís not particularly unique, but the execution here is top-notch. The beer of the month club I got this from has been WILDLY hit-or-miss so far (emphasis on miss), so Iím finally glad to receive a really good beer from them.

Scent of the candied lemon peels used for making fruit cakes, piney hops. Massive rocky off-white head sits atop a hazy deep gold brew. Great balance, really good job to the lads at GoodLife! Sweet malts, sugar cookie dough with a good citrus/pine resin hop bitterness. Alcohol well masked, easy drinking, not overly complex but still very good.

Poured from a 12 ounce can. Big citrusy aroma with some pine, and soft sweet maltiness. The flavor is Bready maltiness, caramel malts are noticeable, grassy hop character, bitterness is high and lingers, citrusy.

Great pine and hop scents, was limited to the can so I couldn't check the color too well. Light hop flavor with a hint of malt

Bottle. Hops are up front in this brew and overwhelmed the maltiness. It was decent but not great.

This was poured into a nonic pint glass. The appearance was a nice looking hazy burnt orange color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute leaving some light lacing roaming all about. The smell started off with a big burst of citrus hops running over light piney notes and then a slight floral setting balances within. The taste copied the smell to have a nice bittersweet burst of hops to malts, nicely balanced. A light piney to citrus aftertaste leads into a refined sweet citrus finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation feels right for an AIPA - slightly back to allow the hops to take the lead on the bitterness and harshness on my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good AIPA that I would have again.

I think it would be tough to find a west coast IPA that is better balanced. Great nose and smooth herbal finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Orange pour. Nose and taste are tropical fruit puree, balance of malts and piney hops bring forward the frutiness. PNW IPAís donít seem to be my style but this was well done.
