Bottle. A finger-thick, creamy, beige head sits on top of a murky, reddish dark brown body. Dried fruits, some licorice hints, and a roasted touch in the aroma. Something sourish too, don’t think there’s an infection going on though. The flavor is pretty similar, but more focused on dried fruits and less on the licorice. Some bitterness chimes in towards the end. Medium to full body, quite dry. Nothing extraordinary going on, but it’s a decent beer. 120817

Schwarz beers are always good. It doesn’t have the brilliance of a good IRS but I always seem to enjoy it. This is another good one from Dutch soil, not as good as a Vat 13 but very enjoyable nonetheless. This is the first beer I have tasted from this brewery, can’t wait to taste a little more. Bottle with a nice cap from De Bierkoning.
