donfardz64 (169), Wellington, New Zealand Oct 24, 2008 Bottle at Malthouse. Pours slightly cloudy golden, white mostly diminishing head. Fruity nose, some hops and maybe some roast malt. Flavour is very hoppy, begins bitter, some malt reveals itself later, ending bitter. downender (1785), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Apr 12, 2008 Bottle. Lively pour with a decent, frothy white head. Deep golden colour with plenty of carbonation. Aroma had plenty of citrus hops, some hay and apricot sweetness. Flavour had some biscuit malt, spice and a prickly grapefruit finish. Good. yalnikim (681), Wellington, New Zealand Mar 12, 2008 Tasted 03/03/2008. 500ml bottle courtesy of Sam ’ You are an Ironman’ TheGrandmaster (from Scenic Cellars, Taupo). BB 03/2007 - oh dear! Pours pale gold with a tight, lacy white head. Bright until the very last few mls, which contain a few chunks. Floral yeast, mineral notes and dry orange peel on the nose at first, with a little bubblegum in behind. Fairly dry in the mouth with just a little pale malt sweetness, the minerally yeast character and some bitter bitter orange dominate the middle, then yeasty astringency and medium bitterness finish you off. Low carbonation, medium weight. Some dry toffee and fruit linger on the palate. A very nice beer that has stood well, a long way past its best before date. I’d imagine this is quite superb when fresh. TheGrandMaster (1617), Auckland, New Zealand Mar 10, 2008 Bottle (from NZ bottle store), pours a golden colour with a white foamy head. A good hoppy aroma with fruit and grassy notes. The mouthfeel is a little ’dirty’, suggesting that it hasn’t necessarily travelled so well. A good bitter and hoppy palate though, with fruity flavours and a touch of caramal from the malt. beervis (215), People’s Republic of Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, England Nov 24, 2007 oo oo ooo! cracking stuff which begs the question which is the best brewery in Ingrow. delicious - strong biscuity malt aroma, fruit, caramel and creamy hops in the flavour. smooth and flavoursome on the palate, lingering fruity finish. classy (despite the Keighley humour on the label)! wonder if they do carry outs, I only live within walking distance. ;)
