2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 rauchbier (3205) - Isle Of Beer, - AUG 19, 2002
UPDATED: JAN 30, 2011 Re rate - bottle from ASDA Grimsby. Gold, thin but long lasting white head and moderate condition. Gentle grainy sweetness and low flowery hops in the nose, slightly chalky and hop bitter in the mouth, and a lingering hop bitterness and a touch of residual sweetness in the finish. Label remains awful.
(Initial Rating 8/19/2002 - 7-4-6-3-12 3.2 - Bottled. Pale gold with good head and condition. Grapefruity hop aromas, some malt in the mouth but a soapy hop bitterness takes over, dominating the finish. And the label is awful.)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - MAR 12, 2008
Tasted 03/03/2008. 500ml bottle courtesy of Sam ’ You are an Ironman’ TheGrandmaster (from Scenic Cellars, Taupo). BB 03/2007 - oh dear! Pours pale gold with a tight, lacy white head. Bright until the very last few mls, which contain a few chunks. Floral yeast, mineral notes and dry orange peel on the nose at first, with a little bubblegum in behind. Fairly dry in the mouth with just a little pale malt sweetness, the minerally yeast character and some bitter bitter orange dominate the middle, then yeasty astringency and medium bitterness finish you off. Low carbonation, medium weight. Some dry toffee and fruit linger on the palate. A very nice beer that has stood well, a long way past its best before date. I’d imagine this is quite superb when fresh.
