3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 5/10/2013. Pours slightly hazy orange copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense cream colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, orange, grapefruit, toast, bread, floral, grass, light pine, light nuttiness, and light yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of malt and hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toast, biscuit, orange, grapefruit, apple, brown sugar, floral, grass, light nuttiness, and light yeast earthiness. Minimal earthy floral bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, biscuit, citrus, apple, brown sugar, floral, and light nuttiness on the finish for a bit. Very nice clean and balanced taste of malt, hop, and fruity flavors; with good robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with a slightly creamy, smooth, and lightly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice ESB style! All around nice balance of malt and hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark mahogany pour with a tightly packed caramel head. Quite rich and syrupy for the style. Caramel, toffee, molasses, candied dark fruit, sugar-coated prunes, cocoa-dipped raisins. Nice sticky body that clings to the palate. Pretty solid offering!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A beer for the occasion of my wedding anniversary. I didn’t see this as an ESB, though the first reaction was the hoppiness, and the second reaction was to sense a quality that I interpreted as Belgian. Caramel and a bit of yeast, floral and a bit dry. Decent. (on tap, Groveland Tap, St. Paul)

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: AUG 6, 2013 Pours deep copper amber with a large beige head. Smells malty, and a little floral. Taste is subtle fruits and strong caramel. Medium-bodied with a smooth texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Goose Island 25th Anniversary ESB finishes with a wet, soft, supple maltiness.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Pours a shimmering amber-bronze, with better than a finger of thick, creamy beige head. Nice lacing too. The nose is what I love about and ESB; citrus, florals, and caramel all intertwined in a sweet, inviting blend. As it warms, the herbal notes come forth a little to inform me I am taking way too long to enjoy my beer. The taste builds on the herbal element, along with something I associate with iced tea. Good floral and citrus hop parts too. Really enjoyable. The ESB was probably the style that got me into craft beer, some 12+ years ago... I wish I would have explored more in the PNW beer scene while I was there. Nevertheless, I am pleased to have a decent amount of fresh craft beer available here in the western midwest and this GI/InBev brew is really speaking to me. 3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz bottle via Spirits Brick. Pooured a clear rusty amber body with large clinging bubbles and an average fizzy eggshell colored head. Aroma dry fruit rinds, toast, grains, dough and wet nut shells. Medium bodied that finishes bigger with average carbonation and a chewiness that would be pleasant but the body is too dry. Flavor is much like the aroma with some dry fruit, mostly rinds, followed by lots of grains and breads along with dough. Meh, this is really what you make for a 25th Anniversary??

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep amber color with soft, well-formed head. Sweet malty aroma with citrus notes. Clean, lightly roasted, malty...quite fresh tasting. Im not usually an ESB drinker, but I’d have another of these.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Slightly hazy, old copper brown with a 2 finger, creamy off white head. Aroma is toffee, toast, caramel, tons of fruity, floral and planty hops, makes me think of Fuggle, but too fruity to be just that, some caramel, bread and citrus. Flavor is caramel, toffee, lots of white bread crust, sweet hay, lots of sweet floral and planty notes, perfumey floral notes and light earthy fruit. Medium body, with a slightly syrupy, creamy entry and a dry finish with a medium carbonation. Pretty good overall, I really like the hop profile and would love to try more ESBs with a similar hop/ additive? usage.
