Like the digits suggest, it’s a beer that’s densely populated with flavor and loaded with character. We don’t filter it, so none of its life and soul is stripped away. The first thing you notice is the hazy, cloudy appearance. That’s how you know it’s unfiltered. What hits you next is the spicy aroma of Cascade hops, followed by the crispy, fruity ale flavor delivered in a smooth, creamy body, the result of blending barley malt with torrified wheat. It’s not like any other Goose Island Beer, but no less that you’d expect.

Taste now 09.04.’15 @ home bottle from AH. Almost clear darkgolden color, god white head. Aroma: grainy malts, some wheat and citrus. Medium body. Taste: sweet, fruits, (citrus), grains, and soft bitterness. Expected more.

helder geel met schuimige witte kraag, aroma van citrus, graan en tarwe. Smaken zijn graanachtig glad maar dun, medium body, en totaal niet bijzonder... eerder wat slap/waterig... nee

I think I prefer the more classical wheat beers. Light on palate, some good flavor. Good to find this in my local supermarket, but not something I’m going to buy sixpacks of.

Pours a cloudy yellow/orange glass of beer. It is a very fruity beer with a sweet and hoppy aroma. It is creamy and very nice!

DAA; Bottle 35,5cl. Pours cloudy straw with plenty of sediments with a shortlived white head. Nose is moderate wheat, yeast, citric and spice. Taste is light sweet and bitter with a short finish. Body is light, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

American wheat ale with a pretty hazy yellow blonde colour and thinnish, egg-white, moussy head breaking open in instants but leaving a retaining rim around the edge of the glass. Aroma indeed has a lot of wheat, along with impressions of peach, straw, sweat, cheese, gooseberry, cake, some vague peppery spiciness, grassy hops, yoghurt, hint of lemon juice and honey; adding the deposit also adds a faint hint of damp cloth or rainwater as well as DMTS (burning rubber). Crisp taste with good fruitiness to start with, green apple, apricot and pineapple, medium carbonation, quickly appearing wheat sourishness and ’soapiness’, refreshing, light spicy yeasty notes, bready pale malts in the background with a subtle, sweet honey touch; supple mouthfeel, rather thin but this cannot come as a surprise seen the relatively low ABV. The gentle wheat sourishness accompanies the finish aided by a herbal, soft but still drying hop bitterishness, more so than in traditional European-style wheat beers; in that sense, this is, I guess, a typical example of an American wheat. Not quite the quality standard I normally would expect from this brewery, but refreshing and quenching.

#3700. 355 ml. bottle @ home. Bottled on 26/01/2015 – BBF 26/01/2016. I still cannot believe that I actually bought this in a supermarket (albeit an NL owned one) in Belgium. Hopefully this is one step closer to my dream of buying BCBS in the supermarket. Hazy yellow wheat, light orange, not a big one but okay white head. Sweetish, light lactic wheat nose, touch unpleasant rotting wheat, citrus,…. Taste is old yeast, sweet very sugary wheat, lemonade, aspirin, sugar, lightly fizzy saccharine, old white bread, plenty of aspirin wheat, touch moldy yeast mixed with wheat in the back,… Body is crushed medication & corn wheat,… Okay & prob. better than the ratings but indeed this is a good beer for solid non-expensive drinking + going for a cheap but solid option but not really more.

Bottle from Foods Plus Plaistow NH. Aroma is faintly yeasty. Appearance is pale gold and hazy. It produced no head. Like the aroma, the taste is faint and slightly sweet--mainly as a finish. Light to medium body that is basically flat like day-old beer until burst of lively carbonation at the end. There’s nothing offensive about this beer but there is nothing to recommend it. It would probably go down smooth on a hot summer day and would be easy to have more than one.

So where exactly in the 312 might one grow a little urban wheat for this ale? Or am I being too literal? I’m enjoying this in the early spring and thinking how nice it would taste on a hot summer day -- if Wisconsin gets any this year. The aroma and taste are nicely subdued and it all works.
