2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
UPDATED: JUL 26, 2005 A bit too acidic for an American wheat, sofaras Iím concerned. Nice look, with a tall frothy head. (Itís probably why they serve it in a pils glass at the pub.) Quite carbonated. Mainly lemon and banana come across in the flavor. Clean... pretty much of a "wet" finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
5 oz sample at the Clybourn location. Unfiltered luminous gold, thick frothy head...pleasant lemony/grainy nose...assertive sourish body, fresh and fragrantly herbal (thyme-tarragon), but a little watery and dull in the end.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a golden yellow with a quickly dissipating white head. Smells slightly fruity and hoppy. The flavor is slightly hoppy, similar to Honkerís but softer, and fruitty. Not much in the way of wheat. The palate is creamy and easy to drink. Enjoyable if youíre kickin back a few.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
I saw this brew on tap at the Fox & Hound chain restaurant in Schaumburg last night, and decided to check it out. It had a slightly darker yellow color, and a quickly dissipating white creamy head. The taste had a short burst of spice, followed by a lot of wheat protein and "graininess". The finish was a dirty/slightly grassy hops kind of thing. It would be a thirst quencher on a hot day, but something you might get tired of real fast.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy gold color with no head. Vague wheat aroma. Fairly sweet taste with hints of wheat. Oddly enough, it seemed a bit dusty too. Eh, not bad.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 3, 2008 For some reason I was expecting a hefe but that clearly wasnít the case here. Itís very pale yellow in color and slightly hoppy and fruity. Not bad but uneventfull to say the least.
Update: Iím raising my rating of this. It is not exceptional, I suppose, but for what it wants to be, it does very well. Good for drinking out in the sun or just relaxing when you donít want to drink anything too complicated. No flavor flaws as far as Iím concerned and itís only true fault is having too much carbonation. I drink it all the time.
Also, it seems like people are degrading this for having no wheat character. I hate to break it to you people but wheat doesnít taste a whole hell of a lot different than barley in a beer. I could make a pale ale using 100% wheat instead of barley and maybe one out of ten of you would know w/o me telling you. This is basically a light pale ale brewed w/ some wheat.

on draft some deep dish place: asked the bartender what the 312 was...smart ass told me it was the area code...didnt really care about that wanted to know what kind of a beer it was/is....in my opinion a light summer wheat beer. pours golden clear with fizzy white mushy top. no real nose just some suttle wheat/yeast dampness. not a great beer in the mouth . very weak and bland...pushed into almost a pils flavor. slight lemon back in the mix...gritty and not enjoyable to drink. my friend sent it back.......the other goose islands are much better.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
I didnít get the 312-area code connection until I read it here. My best guess was that this was the supposed, artificially-accurate number of carbs in a glass of this beer: 3.12. Indeed, I presumed this was a low-carb beer. Light, yellow, and weak. Good carbonation, but a grassy flavor and overall hollowness make it a forgettable throwaway beer. (on tap at Clybourn location)
