Like the digits suggest, itís a beer thatís densely populated with flavor and loaded with character. We donít filter it, so none of its life and soul is stripped away. The first thing you notice is the hazy, cloudy appearance. Thatís how you know itís unfiltered. What hits you next is the spicy aroma of Cascade hops, followed by the crispy, fruity ale flavor delivered in a smooth, creamy body, the result of blending barley malt with torrified wheat. Itís not like any other Goose Island Beer, but no less that youíd expect.

on draft some deep dish place: asked the bartender what the 312 was...smart ass told me it was the area code...didnt really care about that wanted to know what kind of a beer it was/is....in my opinion a light summer wheat beer. pours golden clear with fizzy white mushy top. no real nose just some suttle wheat/yeast dampness. not a great beer in the mouth . very weak and bland...pushed into almost a pils flavor. slight lemon back in the mix...gritty and not enjoyable to drink. my friend sent it back.......the other goose islands are much better.

I didnít get the 312-area code connection until I read it here. My best guess was that this was the supposed, artificially-accurate number of carbs in a glass of this beer: 3.12. Indeed, I presumed this was a low-carb beer. Light, yellow, and weak. Good carbonation, but a grassy flavor and overall hollowness make it a forgettable throwaway beer. (on tap at Clybourn location)

ON TAP - If this was the last Wheat at the bar, Iíd switch to something else. Artificial tasting and left me with a grimy feeling in my mouth. Really poor, perhaps the worst Wheat Iíve ever tasted.

Draught: Light yellow in color. Clear and sparkling. Small white head. Good lacing. Hay and straw malts. Light, grassy hops. Light body. Slick texture. Fizzy. Bitter finish. Wheaty. I also agree with the comments by Mariano500.

UPDATED: SEP 22, 2005 tap-old chicago-rockford, IL-pours cloudy yellow with a decent white head-aroma was yeasty, wheaty, and grainy. flavors are slighty hoppy and grainy, but quite refreshing i thought. Not as bad as others say it is. This would be a good refresher on a hot NM day!

A very, very bland Summer Wheat, which really surprised me when I started to notice how hard they have been promoting this. They have a new tapper just for this beer in the shape of a telephone (312 is an old Chicago area code). Light all around, golden yellow and quite bubbly. Grassy nose. Malts are sweet but thin. watery. Grainy and dry at the finish.

well, the only reason I actually had this was a tour. Iím not a fan of wheats in general, and this wasnít an exception. Hazy banana color, little head. Smelled of corn? some beer smells. Nothing extraordinary. I suppose if youíre a fan of this style, it would be very easy to drink, but I didnít like the flavortaste...

Light hazy lemon color. No nose presence or anything. Flat, nearly tasteless experience. Some hops and bitterness, but no yeast, no citric flavors. Watery texture made it easy to drink.

Pilsnery color, light golden, hazy. Not much carbonation. Fuzzy mouthfeel. Light hoppiness. Malt apparent. Fairly unimpressive.
