Like the digits suggest, itís a beer thatís densely populated with flavor and loaded with character. We donít filter it, so none of its life and soul is stripped away. The first thing you notice is the hazy, cloudy appearance. Thatís how you know itís unfiltered. What hits you next is the spicy aroma of Cascade hops, followed by the crispy, fruity ale flavor delivered in a smooth, creamy body, the result of blending barley malt with torrified wheat. Itís not like any other Goose Island Beer, but no less that youíd expect.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2014 Draft at Moriartys. Mostly clear amber pour with a large foamy white head. Sharp and dry with a fair amount of toasted caramel malt. Croissants with a spicy mandarin marmalade. Nice dry floral finish. Thyme and heather. Not exceptional but nice notes of browned lemon at make it interesting.

Pours pale and slightly cloudy, like a Victorian horizon rendered in light amber instead of gray-blue. More transparent than wheat beers tend to be. Minimal lacing after a head that shrinks immediately, then lingers at half its original height. Nose is the must of yeast in bread, but not the thick or sour kind: Decent. Taste is, for lack of a better word, skeletal. You detect the outlines of structure floating in water like an anchored wishbone, but nothing else save the nip of bitterness defanged, bitterness that mixes with wheat that tastes thin and slightly stale, more saltine cracker than loaf. The taste isnít unpleasant, just as saltines can slake hunger, but it conjures the kinds of thin, dry beer Iíve avoided for years (Corona, Amstel Light, etc.). Thatís something I never expected from a brewery that can be as excellent as Goose Island. Luckily, I have a bottle of their Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout in the fridge to remind me of their greatness.

12oz Bottle. Appearance is hazy, golden yellow color with medium, off-white head. Aroma is grainy and herbal, somewhat medicinal. Taste is mostly malt, some wheaty grains, herbal hops, kind of medicinal. Palate is medium-bodied, somewhat thin texture, average carbonation, and a semi-dry finish. Blah.

Bottle: Sunshine-y yellow body, hazy & seemingly unfiltered with a bone-white head that doesnít last for very long. Aroma is generically wheat beer-ish, with notes of soft wheat, bread, moderate lemon & orange zest, & a very light tingle of grassy & floral hops in the finish. Taste is full of more wheat, baked bread, clumpy yeast, light citrus peel, a touch of stale hop character, & a faint hint of some type of spice... Hard to identify... I want to say clove or mint, but it doesnít really taste like either. Overall, not a bad beer... but severely generic & it doesnít really excel in any one aspect of the game.
