Like the digits suggest, it’s a beer that’s densely populated with flavor and loaded with character. We don’t filter it, so none of its life and soul is stripped away. The first thing you notice is the hazy, cloudy appearance. That’s how you know it’s unfiltered. What hits you next is the spicy aroma of Cascade hops, followed by the crispy, fruity ale flavor delivered in a smooth, creamy body, the result of blending barley malt with torrified wheat. It’s not like any other Goose Island Beer, but no less that you’d expect.

Bottle: Hazy yellow colour, with a nice creamy white head. Aroma of fruits, flowers, yeasty and nice sweet maltynes. Flavor was Mild smouth and fresh flowery/fruity mouthfeeling. Grassy and sweet maltynes. Thin body and short fruity finish.

Cloudy light golden colour, medium bubbly white head. Discrete wheat notes in the nose not much else, flavour is the same, and I find it very watery. Mouthfeel is average. This beer is just plain boring.

Bottle, Beers of Europe. Very pale yellow, zingy and zesty and a bit of a German/Belgian crossover, I thought. Refreshing. slightly herby and creamy, with some raspberry flavour lurking in the background. Clean tasting and impressive.

Bottle. Cloudy golden beer with a fizzy head and body. The aroma is mainly sweet, and the flavour is malty and yeasty and dry at the finish. Overall a very plain beer.

Pours yellow with white head, aroma is fruity and ester filled. Taste is fruity up front and thins into some malt with a kind of lackluster finish that’s slightly sweet.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2011 Top of the heap as Hefe’s go. Basically tastes like a hefe without being sweet, which makes it great to me. Good citrus aromas, nice yeast. Easy to drink with a full yet clean finish.

Bottle tasting at work. Not a bad commercial wheat by Goose Island, while this (as their flagship) doesn’t stand up to more finely crafted wheat beers produced for the craft conosuers, it is a wonderful introduction to the craft market for those just getting their feet wet. Like New Belgium, Goose Island caters its flagship to the larger consumer market that is still caught up in the (*sigh*) light beer craze. However, delving into their line of products, you find a lot of great beers deserving of the craft culture’s attention.

meh, pretty bland not good flavor. better warm actually. malt is not good, wheat character is not good. Yeast character is bland and not good. A bit harsh actually.
