COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Like the digits suggest, it’s a beer that’s densely populated with flavor and loaded with character. We don’t filter it, so none of its life and soul is stripped away. The first thing you notice is the hazy, cloudy appearance. That’s how you know it’s unfiltered. What hits you next is the spicy aroma of Cascade hops, followed by the crispy, fruity ale flavor delivered in a smooth, creamy body, the result of blending barley malt with torrified wheat. It’s not like any other Goose Island Beer, but no less that you’d expect.

There’s a reason that Goose Island took this off their seasonal list and started brewing it year round. Their description of 312 as having "densely populated flavor" is definitely accurate. There’s a lot more depth of flavor than most wheat bears, but it still remains quite refreshing despite having a slightly bitter aftertaste.

220z bomber. Hazy orange-yellow color. Subdued aroma, a little sweet wheat and malt. The taste is solid, not unlike a Bavarian Hefe, but without the banana yeast characteristics. Some light lemony tang. Excellent full mouthfeel, while still relatively light on the palate. Crisply balanced by the hops, this is quite refreshing and easy drinking.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2013 I am a big fan of heffewiezen so I was initially disappointed with this beer. By the time I got to the end of the six pack however I changed my mind and my rating. Good smooth refreshing wheat beer.

Bottle. Straw yellow and cloudy with a steady white head. Lovely hoppy aroma with spices and wheat. Flavourwise it’s really crisp and light but imparts a fair bit of flavour. There’s a wheaty body with dashes of grape, grapefruit, honey and floral notes. Light and breezy and would straddle well between the lager drinkers and the real ale suppers.

Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat has a thick, rumply head and a very bubbly, hazy, yellow-golden appearance, with thick lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of stinging white bread, a touch of lemon, and a lot of tap water. Flavor is of the same, with a subdued bitterness, underneath. Mouthfeel is soft and medium, and Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat finishes dry, refreshing, and very drinkable. Overall, this is a good beer. RJT

Transfer from BA review on 4-16-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a lightly hazed golden yellow color with a big and billowy white head. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading to leave a nice level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma is of a grainy wheat smell with a strong hint of a lemon citrus and some sweeter fruit aromas of an orange nature. Mixed with all these are some aromas of a yeasty and grassy aroma as well. Taste- The taste begins with a smooth bready flavor upfront. As the taste moves on, more grainy wheat flavors come to the tongue with some of the citrus detected in the nose coming to the tongue as well. The citrus is quite light however and is much less then would have been detected in the nose. The little bit of lemon and wheat flavors are soon joined by some grassy hop and more yeasty flavors in the end, leaving a rather smooth and crisp wheat bread flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is on the slightly lighter side in its thickness with a carbonation level that is on the average side. The thinner body is nice for keeping it a refreshing brew while the medium carbonation is good for balancing the drinkability with the nice grainy flavors. Overall – A rather refreshing and quite nice drinking brew. It has a nice light body with a good blend of grainy wheat and light grassy and citrus flavors to make for a good session brew.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 12/1/2014. Pours lightly hazy golden straw color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana/clove, wheat, biscuit, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and bready malt notes; with decent strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana/clove, wheat, biscuit, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, light banana/clove. wheat, biscuit, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice robustness and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and bready malt notes; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly bready/creamy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a nice pale wheat ale. All around good robustness and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Vary heady and complicated. A tough challenge for any beer man. One of the best.
