On tap at crunchy's tap takeover. Really not much hop smell. Kind of mild. Pretty average for an imperial.

From notes. Draft. Spice, malt and light hops. Meh, it’s ok. This would be better off as a year-round or seasonal rather than of of their "special" beers.

On tap at Tap and Mallet Goose Island versus Founders event. Pretty decent stuff. Heavy citrus nose. Orange appearance, it glows. Nice head. Creamy mouthfeel, this is a great beer that ends too soon.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Top Hops. Pours a cloudy golden orange, dense white foam. Scent strong on citrus with moderate floral qualities, notes of yeasty spice, malt. Taste is citrus, bitter notes and spice lingers...sweet Belgian yeast character. Dry and lingering bitterness and spice on the palate. Hop and spice mix is a bit too much for me.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap. A tad hoppy, spicy malts, yeast in the aroma. Sweet and spicy, mature, and pretty complex for a brown ale. Tasty.

UPDATED: JAN 11, 2013 On draught at New Bohemia in Mpls w/ elguacho. A slight belgian aroma but the ipa pine smell is missing (which I welcome). Really nice taste that has a hop presence but is balanced with citrus and doesn?t taste like you?re licking a tree. Ends smooth too. I?m not an ipa guy (yet) but this is good.

Draft at New Bohemia Mnpls for Goose Island tap takeover. Smells a lot like Elmer’s glue which means it smells nothing like a Belgian IPA. Muddy light brown in appearance with a thin white head and nice lace. Very unique flavor. Hint of Brett with a nice hop profile. Wonderful lingering finish. Outstanding.

On tap as Minx at 8th Street Ale House. Deep amber with a creamy brown head. Aroma of toffee, yeast and fruit. Taste is sweet with strange fruit, yeast and some citrus. Mild bitterness and a bit overpowered by the yeast.

Had on tap at Wild Monk’s one year anniversary/GI tap takeover. Served in a GI chalice.
A: Pours a dark amber color with a bubbly white head. Tons of soapy lace are left down the glass.
S: Bready yeast and malt profile. Underlying piney notes with some citrus and stone fruit.
T: A little lemon grass. Some citrus flesh and stone fruit. Juicy orange. A little minute alcohol flavors as well. The finish is dry, bready and yeasty.
M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation. Dry, yeasty finish.
O: Pretty solid Belgian IPA. I enjoyed the stone fruit flavors imparted by the yeast and the dry finish.
Serving type: on-tap
