On tap at GI 25th block party. Pour is dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma and flavor both have notes of caramel, nuts, tobacco, and smoke. Not bad.

Bottle courtesy of various people before it got to me. Drank one last summer but it seemed unfinished so I figured I’d give it some more time. Better, but not extremely so. Impressive looking but taste is a bit thin. Slightly acidic at first but gets better as it warms. A little sweeter as it warms with some caramel/toffee, maybe even some banana.

Thanks to Aaron for this - turbid brown - frothy lace - nose of chocolate, some berry notes, tobacco, light paper/oxidation - flavor is cardboard, cocoa, leafy bitterness, mild acidity and a little woodiness - I feel a little bad rating something that is so old, but I gotta tick something this rare, bitches!

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, big thanks to Aaron for the hookup! Reddish brown pour with thin off white head, aroma brings notes of nice roast, dark fruits, anise, touch of caramel and molasses, hints of some slight earth. Taste is a mix of dark fruits, cardboard and papery malts, hints of caramel, biscuit, touch of molasses and anise, finishing fairly dry and pretty watered. Would probably be good in its prime.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2012 Bottle @ Armin’s house, courtesy of OCBeerSociety. Thanks a ton! Dark reddish, brown appearance with a light brown head. Very roasty, dark caramel, slightly burnt/smoky, dark malty, a touch organic aroma. Roasty, dark burnt, a touch smoky, light toffee, light charred flavor. Ok.

Tasted at the 2011 12 South Winter Warmer from a 12oz bottle. Pours deep, dark brown, with a mahogany hue, and average tan head that slowly recedes to thin spotty lace. The nose is dark and fruity prune, banana, molasses, anise, and dark chocolate. The flavor is the same, with the sweet molasses and prune up front, moving to dusty anise and dark chocolate, and finishing with some bitterness and a hint of banana. The body is medium with average, smooth carbonation, and a long fruity and dark chocolate finish.

12oz bottle generously given to me from Mark, thanks! Pours a very dark brown colored body with some reddish hues. Finger-width, frothy, tannish brown head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is grainy and nutty with a light chocolate, a touch of roast, and a hint of dark fruit. Flavor is similar. Some nutty grains with a touch of chocolate sweetness and a light roast. Finishes with some wet grain, dry roasts, and a touch of earth. Medium length aftertaste following a light-medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty disappointing porter. I was hoping for much more, but this wasn’t that good.

bottle... dark brown with a very light tan head, no retention or lace...the smell and taste is a bit weird, chocolate wet dog with tons of grain, this is not very good
