3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from Beer World. After two days of running around like a chicken in traffic I needed something like this to wind down with. Big and roasty nose comes off the full pour and erupting head to slowly settle a shimmering still black morass. Out of the glass then comes the low tone of the nibs covered in malt. Body is Godzilla big but has but an undertone of alcohol heat up front. Malts encircle and overwhelm the 11.5%. My back began to loosen up about three quarters thru the bottle and I was able to put more wood on the fire. Muck like a black hole, this beers gravitational pull made me consume the entire bottle. My wife told me this morning that I set a record for snoring. I blame the glass foundry! Damn silica magnates.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz bottle from 2011 shared with ebone1988. The pour is a little thin, but is a nice inky black with a decent head of decent khaki color. It falls quickly to a ring. The aroma is huge on cocoa and roasted malt. The cocoa brings a great bitterness to the table here. There is a light licorice profile in the background and the booze creeps up a bit as well. The flavor is really good. It's almost like Bourbon County without the barrel. The chocolate is huge, and the roasted malts offer a wonderful bitterness behind the licorice. Basic, but complex. The mouth feel is incredible. There is a great soft carbonation to go with the heavy viscous mouthfeel. The aftertaste is lingeringly chocolatey and bitter. Really good.

Taste is nice, like BC without the barrel, tons of roasted malt, tons of chocolate, real nice. Mouthfeel is perfect, thick with great carbonation and lingering presence. Overall, quite impressive.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Bruce’s leaving drinks, thanks to Leighton. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is rich roast, charcoal, umami, sour malts, soy sauce, chocolate and tar. The taste is slick, oily, dirt, fudge, charred wood, umami, soy sauce, warming alcohol, cocoa, chocolate gateaux and booze. Full body, moderate carbonation and slick mouth-feel. A bit viscous and cloying. Good depth, but a touch too much umami/soy sauce action going on.
