Draft at Clybourn. Pours near-black with a tannish head. This must be melding better now than when the other guys had it. Nose has faint cocoa, tropical fruits, mellow pineapple and citrus. Toasty malt. On tasting, moderate bitterness, fruity hop flavor tending towards a citrus slant, followed by tart pineapple and cocoa. Dry finish overall with some caramel as well. Nice enough.

On tap at the sour e and yields a barely transparent darker than cola consistency and topped with a creamy light beige head... Piney citrusy hop like a smaller night stalker with a light cocoa roast backing. Fairly nice balance between the two dimensions... Flavors are lightly phenolic with a hoppy roasty feel throughout but not as smooth as the aroma suggests. Smooth bodied albeit lighter than expected. Finishes in a lightly bitter note. Flavors doesn’t seem to follow through enough.

Pours thin black. Aroma is citrus hops. Flavor is burnt citrus with a little bit of malt and alcohol burn. Clean slightly malty finish. Well crafted but unexceptional and not really my style.

On tap as part if a flight. Brown red with a creamy head. Great green hoppy aroma. A little must. Pine bitter flavors. A little harsh with the alcohol. But really tasty still. Bitter pine finish.

Draft flight on tap at the Clybourn brewpub (Chicago. IL). Quick jaunt in for the new rates. Pours a dark brown hue, some darkness in the body as the light comes out, deeper copper glow on the edges and good colors, gentle haziness. Creamy offwhite head atop dies to a nice film, laces ok overall. Aromas are a firm hoppy feel, pineapple and citrusy grapefruit mix with some pine and florals. Inviting with some richer fruit, lemon and oranges. I dig it. Touches of toasty malts, bready, and darker feel. Initial offers good bitter hopping of citrusy grapefruit, pine, and lemons. Some oranges, florals as hops hit firmly. Dry and bitter, good fruit hop melange as we hit some toasty and bready malts, dark grainy elements, toasty and black. Middle is much of the same, lingering and sustaining on the palate. Backend stays dry, a firm body keeps with a good bitterness into the finish. Lots of fruity hops, good bitter resiny pine and florals. Gentle darker toast. Pretty well hopped. I guess I’d like it a bit smaller, but I dig the hop experience here.

On tap at the Clyborn location. Pours a clear dark brown with a slight ruby hue and a grayish brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has earthy pine notes with a musty dark grain backbone. Flavor starts with smooth dark grains but finish is more earthy pine.

Draft, pours dark brown-amber-black with creamy off white head. Aroma has tangerines, orange peel, and resin. Flavors are strong pinneapple juice , tangerine, apricot, grapefruit rind. Med bitterness and smooth finish. Not sure I like the tropical fruit with dark malts, some balance in the hop blend would greatly improve this beer but its not bad at all.
