4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
First of all can someone please tell me what a wheatmiser is? Google just pulls up GI and BA reviews...A super dark copper with clear amber notes, not much of a head...The aroma is awesome, dominated by sweetness. Sweet prunes on the fruit, then a nice barleywine bite of caramel, hops and wood, and the finish is sweet red wine. So complex, but balanced and really comes together...The taste is much of the same, a sweet barleywine, almost an unreal barleywine itself but accented by the great red wine barrel aging. Warm to drink but a little watery. Super easy to drink at 8.7.
Go to GI to just have this beer, its worth going out of you way, its that good.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at the clybourn spot. Dark amber body with small white head. Aroma of huge sugar, resinous hops, and light bourbon. Guessing it’ll be cloying....and it is. Huge caramelized sugar, dead hops, and warm bourbon. Too heavy and syrupy. A mess of malt.

at GI cly, pours hazy dark amber sm white head. Nose of alc and fortified wine passion fruit plums touch green but seems like
an alcohol byproduct. Flavors are sweet green apple caramel plums red
wine vanilla and oak finish strong in this one. Syrupy body. Alc well
hidden. There’s a lot going on here sometimes good sometimes off but I

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Calyborn brewpub. tasted next to Bourbon county Stout. Pours very dark brown with small off white bubbly head that leaves little lacing. Fruity woody aroma with malty undertones. Smooth and balanced with some sweetness and alcohol present. Almost sherry like. Could benefit from fuller body. Lingering finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Snifter on tap at the brewpub (Chicago, IL). Pours a very deep reddish copper, brown, a decent haze, with a decent sized offwhite bubbly head, laces ok. Aromas are a nice red wine tannin base, vanilla and oak, wheaty grainy malts, a touch of fruity ester, warming booziness. Warming sweet sticky malts, caramel and toffee with a touch of sherry. Initial is thicker, sweeter malts of wheat and toffee mix with a nice warming booziness, red wine tannins are tame but there, a good oak element, red wine, vanilla, wet wood, faint spiciness. Warming and thicker, sweet malts play well with the red wine but are still fairly dominant. Lingering booziness, red wine, cereal grains and sweeter stickiness. Finish lightly bitter, touch of red wine bitterness and oaky vanilla, with a lingering malty sweetness having the final say. A very nice brew.

Tap at gi clybourn... Pours a medium transparent cinammon orange brown with a thin soapy white head... Sweet honey, vanilla. And barrel notes upfront, sweet and boozy yet not cloyingly. Vanilla and sweet dried fruit linger on... Almost a carbon copy of the nose with a drier finish thatcuts through the sweetness. Carbonation is plenty and adds a prickly feel to it. body a rad bit thin. I seem to like all the wheatmiser incarnations apparently and this one is likeable as well. Almost like a less intense nemesis
