CanIHave4Beers (208), Des Moines, Iowa, USA May 19, 2008 Bourbon County Light?
hahahaha
This beer was very nice. It had an aroma of dark malt and tons of oak aromas.
The flavours were intensley "Bourbon-Like" There was flavors of oak, smoke, deep roasted malt with plenty of whiskey sweetness.
Ughsmash (3079), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA May 28, 2008 On tap at Goose – Clybourn. Poured black with a short cap of beige head. The aroma picked up a sweet, very nice blend of vanilla, sweet bourbon, and darker chocolates with increasing sour oak and bourbon as it warmed up.. a bit too much barrel, but it could just be the fact that the stout wasn’t big enough for the task. The flavor found sweeter vanilla and dark chocolates with deep caramel, vanilla, and coffee tartness behind.. again, the barrel appeared too heavy for the beer. Medium-bodied and tart on the palate from the barrel treatment.. sharp boozy and oaky tartness.. overall a bit rough. Walt (2287), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 23, 2008 Pour is opaque black with no head...smell is fairly roasty with some chocolate and coffee and has some definite barrel characteristics of wood and vanilla and alcohol...taste is sweet at first with vanilla and chocolate, then more bourbon takes over with wood and vanilla and alcohol....then a copperish type flavor comes in toward the finish where cocoa makes another appearance... swoopjones (1179), Buffalo, New York, USA May 21, 2008 On tap @ Goose Island Clybourn. Huge roasty aroma with medium bourbon presence. Pours a deep black color with a disappointing light to medium body. Taste is full of bourbon, oakiness, roasted malts. Slight burn on the palate at the end. Bourbon taste really lingers. Pretty good but would like some more body drewbeerme (1840), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 20, 2008 on tap at gi lp. pours black with small tan head around the rim that didn’t last long. aroma of bourbon, oak, and coconut. flavor is pretty sour, oak, vanilla, baker’s chocolate, and a touch of soy. fizzy mouth feel. the sourness kills this. i’m not sure if captain fantasy is still on at RB yorktown but that blows this away in the BA regular stout style. alexanderj (1340), San Diego, California, USA May 20, 2008 On tap at the Clybourn location this past weekend. Color was dark brown/black. Aroma was well balanced; roasted malt, cocoa, bourbon and alcohol. Flavor was slightly sweet and again well balanced. The aging seemed to be done with some restraint, which I found worked well. Easy drinking bourbon aged beer; very enjoyable.
