Cask pour at Day/Night of the Living Ales 2013 at Goose Island - Wrigleyville (Chicago, IL). Pours a dulled well hazed straw hue, some natural applesauce, loose whitish bubbly head atop dies to a film, laces small. Aromas are gentle oak, spirit, vanilla and cherryskin. A touch sticky, some bready malts, gentle melon, citrus, and Belgian yeast. Some dryness, mellow oak. Initial is mellow coriander, oranges, and melon. Some tangerine, mellow, some white peach. Middle shows gentle dryness, vanilla tannins, oak, and spice. Some yeastiness, coriander, and touches of white wine. Some cherry fruit and skin, gentle end of the fold. More fuzzy peach, citrus rind, and mellow spice. Backend is a bit dry, bready, gentle white pepper and oak. Mellow citrus and dryness, mellow farmhouse yeast trail out. Pretty solid. Bourbon gives just a touch of life, cherries are light but pleasant. Fun.
