4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Small bottle from 2013. Pour is black with a small, light brown head. Aroma has lots of green bell pepper, coffee and some sweeter notes. Very little bourbon left from the original beer. Salmiak, licorice. Taste is sweet with both the malts and the vanilla, but also has some dry, oak - and of cause - coffee notes. Slight bitterness. The coffee really matches the original beer well! Very good!

2/15/15 - Another excellent Bourbon County - I liked this even more than the standard stout. Poured thick, with an excellent aroma of coffee and a hint of chocolate and fruit. Great taste, and loved the carbonated feel, the strength of the taste and alcohol. Strong, but easy to drink. Not as bitter as the standard stout, I will definitely seek out this version, and I look forward to trying others in this great line of beers! Well done Goose Island!!!

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours tar black with a rather large-ish mocha head (served at room temp) which recedes to a ring around the glass. Aroma is a wonderful bourbon, coffee, caramel, nutty. Taste is initially caramel then hints of that vanilla sweetness recognisable in bourbon whisky which is further followed a tinge of coffee bitterness and a slight touch salty on the finish. Absolutely deserves the praise it receives, all tastes in moderation and balance. Full bodied, light, fluffy and apparent in the mouth. Long, tantalising and smooth finish.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a very deep brown with s slight red tint and a small tan head. Aroma was of freshly roasted coffee, chocolate, slight cherry, and bourbon. Taste was almost identical to regular bourbon county. Didn’t get much coffee and I thought I would judging by the aroma. Still very good and had a nice warming bourbon feel to it. Body was full and oily. Would love to get to have this again.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
2014 vintage, bottled. Jet black with a small, light brown head. Aroma is heavy with dark chocolate with an earthy, roasted coffee base. There is a bit of green tea leaf under the coffee, accentuating the earthiness. Smooth chocolate flavor with a touch of nutty toasted pecan and rum raisin. Softly carbonated. Dang tasty.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A 2014 bottle. It pours a solid black with a tan head and lacing. It has a great coffee aroma with a bourbon background. The flavor is similar, with rich, toasty malt up front and a great bourbon backbone over a thick, heavy body.

12oz bottle from trade - hat right off to thrashD for hooking me up. Pours jet black, good old used motor oil, small ring of head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of dry roasted peanuts, chocolate, vanilla, some light bourbon booze, lightly roasted coffee beans. Lightly carbonated, just right. Deep roasted sweetness, some milky vanilla latte, some soy sauce, salt, roasted cacao, espresso, Nutella, charred meat, tiramisu... crazy range of sweet, roasty flavours. Fantastic.

Draft @ Harry’s Hofbrau RWC on 1/9/15. Aroma of predominantly coffee with booze, hints of roasted malt and vanilla. Pleasant mouthfeel and tastes of coffee, roasted malt, bourbon, chocolate, and vanilla. Very solid for the style…could drink several more of these.
