4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 erickok (2298) - Tours, FRANCE - MAY 5, 2013
Sweet bourbon, raisins, only a bit of coffee. Amazingly rich. Sharp start, but worth the complexity. Medicinal hops, alcohol burn. Oily body. Big, powerful brew for the bourbon lover. (ZeeBra)

Bottle. Pitch black with a small brown head. Aroma is bourbon first and foremost, coffee, caramel, just a little green pepper. Taste is very sweet, almost no bitterness, a little alcohol. Finish is sweet, alcoholic with a little roast/coffee. Full bodied, soft carbonation. It’s BCS with a little coffee, next year I’ll make sure to try a fresh bottle to see if there’s more of a coffee presence.

22 oz bottle. Bottled on 11/12/ 12. Nose is really nice. Earthy coffee, chocolate, brown sugar and oak. Flavor is really delightful. Chocolate up front with oak, bourbon with some deep roasted notes. Secondary notes of vanilla, high end coffee bean. ABV is totally mellow. God this is great!! Awesome is every regards.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 conway (574) - - APR 26, 2013
Draft. Pours jet black with a little chocolate colored head. Nose is syrupy bourbon, chocolate and just a hint of coffee. Taste is very similar. Kinda wish the coffee was a bit more prominent as this is pretty similar to the base beer. Still very awesome.

22 ounce bottle from 2011, divvied up among 6. Aroma is light roast coffee beans, fireplace wood pile, bourbon and caramel. Appearance is black, thin residue of brown lacing on the glass, a layer of foam film on the surface that helps deliver that coffee and chocolate aroma. Taste has all the same aspects as the aroma, plus a mild rye and vanilla component. Palate is on the thin side of thick bodied, noticeable abv, low carbonation. No surprises here, this one is a solid performance of the traditional coffee imperial stout style. I’d like to see how this differs from the other years’ different coffee blends.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20 beerbaaron (384) - Wisconsin, USA - APR 19, 2013
2012. To sum up: Did not enjoy this as much as the original. There seemed to be much more hot alcohol in the flavor, aroma, and palate and it really took over the show for me. Coffee character was almost undetectable until only a small amount remained in the glass (volume - not a temp issue). Still a fantastic beer without a doubt, but it has a tall standard to measure up to.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 pineypower (2152) - Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA - APR 13, 2013
Bottle at Easter brunch. Pours black, thick and syrupy with a small tan head. Aroma is of bourbon, oak, vanilla, medium roast coffee, and lots of alcohol. Taste is sweet boozy syrupy chocolate, roasts coffee, bourbon, oak, vanilla, lingering hop bitterness on the end interwoven with the hot alcohol. A bit too hot right now, should have let it sit a little longer.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ClubGonzo (2718) - Bergen, NORWAY - APR 12, 2013
Bottle, from trade with matboz. Pours a pitch black body with a small off-white head. Aroma is deep soy-like coffee tones, ashes, coal, tar and leather with sweet malts in the back. Taste is strong coffee tones, dark malts, booze, sweet toffee, vanilla and hints of leather and brown sugar. Smooth, thick palate with semi-soft carbonation. Nice coffee stout, but not at all as epic as advertised.
