COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Everyday Goose Island smells the wonderful coffee roasting next to our brewery at Chicago’s Intelligentsia Coffee and Tea. This world class roaster puts the same passion and skill into their coffee as Goose Island does with its beer. This excellent stout is made with a different coffee from our friends next door each year. With the change in coffee comes a change in the flavor profile, making each release truly unique from the previous years.

- First bottle release seen in Spring 2010 as "Bourbon County Coffee Stout".
- Also available previous years at the brewpub as "Black Cat Bourbon County Stout"

My 2011 bottle was poured into a snifter. I regained composure after an initial sniff, and was able to identify caramel, chocolate, roasted coffee, alcohol, slight butterscotch, soy sauce, vanilla, and oak. The appearance leaves a little to be desired, as the fizzy brown head quickly faded to a thin ring around the glass. The taste begins with medium sweetness, followed by light bitterness and lingering umami. Its body is medium, with a slick texture, almost flat carbonation, and long finish. Overall, this is a fantastic BBA stout, and the coffee enhances the aroma and flavor without becoming conspicuous. Kudos to the brewers and barrel aging crew at Goose Island.

My favorite imperial stout. The coffee just makes this so much better than the plain bourbon aged stout. Impeccable pour, aroma, and color. Finished better than any beer that I have ever tried. It is work the hunt to find it. Too bad all of the stores mark it up!

Bouquet of bourbon and coffee. Pours dark chocolatey with a thin Carmel head. Tastes of Chocolate coffee bourbon oak with an alcohol finish. Feels thin in the mouth.

2013 bottle from somewhere in Brooklyn NY. Black medium carbonation, tan foam. Aroma is vanilla coffee - smells spectacular. Taste is strong vanilla, bourbon, very roasty coffee finish. Abc not super well hidden. As it warms a nice caramel flavour takes over from the bourbon character. Overall, much drinkable than the straight BCBS. Fun and lots going on.

2011 bottle. Pours a dark brown with no head. The aroma is strong coffe grounds and roast. Thick mouthfeel with rich coffee ground and bitter roast. Held up well, very good.

shared my 2012 bomber with 2 friends. poured pitch black with a non lasting beige head. strong roasted coffee bean smell, oak, wood, bourbon, smooth dark chocolate, vanilla, just one hell of a beer. smooth complex mouthfeel. well balanced beer. should be even better if there was just a bit less carbonation.. and a bit more bourbon in the taste. but again... top class!

Poured from bottle. 2013. The classic bourbon county aroma. Extremely smooth with a nice vanilla aftertaste. Lives up to the hype.

Bottle from Mackey’s on NCAA Friday with ck1 & Jan - and many thanks for covering this for me. Pours an opaque black with a brown head. Aroma has sweet vanilla, chocolate, caramel and heavy roast. Taste is of sweet vanilla, roast and chocolate. Decadent and heavy, but super smooth. A touch to the sweet side, but also roasty/chocolatey deep through the body. Full bodied, and smoooooooth. Finishes strong and nicely balanced between bitter and sweet. Alcohol is more after than during, although dancing around the edges. Wonderful option for my 100th imperial stout! Find one and have it, and then have another.

Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout Imperial Stout 13.4 % ABV APPEARANCE: Poured a midnight deep black. Very little faint toffee colored head that dissipated almost instantly leaving the smallest lace. AROMA: Holy Cracker Jack's, I literally just checked the bottle for my prize. The nose on this is epic, toffee, vanilla, fresh ground coffee, oak. Wow. Hints of over ripe deep dark berries. Some chocolate and a faint spiciness. TASTE: Right away expresso, roasted, toasted and nutty. Nice sweet malts, chocolate the ripe berries I got in the nose. Toffee, molasses and then the barrel flavor joins the party. Oak, vanilla, hint of cinnamon. Kinda happy I didn't get the spiciness I grabbed in the nose. MOUTHFEEL: Very rich, slick and oily. Heavy bodied with very light carbonation. Finished with a nice booziness. OVERALL: Amazing beer, intense and delicious. Felt it was super balanced and didn't let the coffee over power the other layers. Personally I put this right under Backyard Rye in the bcs lineup so far. RATING: 4.9/5 Zombie Heads! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Shared with Donnie. Coffee in my opinion makes about everything better and this was no exception. Thick black pour with a smell revealing bold roast coffee, heavy malts, dark chocolate, some char. Taste is sweet and savory all at the same time. Bold roast, coffee, dark chocolate, sweet chocolate, light bourbon, vanilla, oak, dark fruits. Booze is just slightly noticeable. This is fantastic.
