Always on the lookout for the next thing they can throw in a barrel, our brewers actually looked no further than their own backyard for this release – literally. Inspired by the berries they remember first eating from the trees in their yards; this Bourbon County release is full of the dark, spicy, and pleasantly sweet flavors of mulberries, marionberries, and boysenberries. This trio of fruit nicely rounds out the spice and heat of the rye whiskey barrels in which they were aged, resulting in a smooth, jammy stout perfect for sipping on your back porch.

Bottled@PBF IX. Black colour, small brown head. Aroma gooseberries, some liquorice, alcohol and mild toffeeish and sweet malts. Flavour is liquorice, some toffee, mild fruits and some sugary notes. OK, but too much berries.

650 ml bottle @ PBF IX. Pours a black colour with a small beigeish head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, rich red berries and wood. Flavour of roasted malts, very rich red berries, some wood, bilberry pie, wood and some pie crust. Full bodied and oily mouthfeel. Soft. Really smooth and enjoyable.

650ml bottle from a trade, thanks CheapBeerBuzz! @ PBF IX

Bottled on 20 NOV 13 - Pours pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, berries, some wood, oak and rye. Taste is malty, roasty and woody with loads of berries, some rye and oaky notes. Finish is sweetish, roasty and woody with loads of berries and rye. Quite different from the regular Bourbon County Stout.

65 cl bottle @ PBF Ⅸ, bottled 20.11.2013 Thanks tiong!
Aroma feels heavy and sweet with malty tones, berries and some licorice. Flavour has woody tones, berries, some rasperry, vanilla and hints of licoriuce. Dry, somewhat leathery and woody; sweetness eats the drinkability here. Bourbon is present here.

Pours a nice black color with minimal khaki colored head. Spice, dark fruits, whiskey, and definitely rye on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a little sweetness.

Bottle sample, also draft at FoBAB. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, dark chocolate, berries, light cherry notes, barrel notes, bourbon, vanilla, some spicy rye character with some alcohol in the back. I thought that this was everything Bramble should have been fresh, but wasn’t.

Pours black with basically no head. Aromas are vanilla, sweet chocolate, berry jam. Taste is more of the same, with sweet caramel, chocolate goodness. Borderline fudge thats brought back by the bitterness from the berries. Makes it more of a bitter sweet chocolate. Oak and vanilla. Full body, sticky finish. Delicious.

Bottle. This shouldn’t work as well as it does, but it does! Pours a pitch black color with a medium white head. A big fruity nose, leather and heat. The flavor is cherries, tobacco, leather, rich viscous palate, light heat considering the ABV, a bit of roast, super sweet at times. Overall, the fruit is very big, though it’s hard to pick out specific berries. And damn, it’s great!
