COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Always on the lookout for the next thing they can throw in a barrel, our brewers actually looked no further than their own backyard for this release – literally. Inspired by the berries they remember first eating from the trees in their yards; this Bourbon County release is full of the dark, spicy, and pleasantly sweet flavors of mulberries, marionberries, and boysenberries. This trio of fruit nicely rounds out the spice and heat of the rye whiskey barrels in which they were aged, resulting in a smooth, jammy stout perfect for sipping on your back porch.

Great blend of berries, red wine, and molasses. A little spice from the rye. Not much roasted malt flavor - a very different type of stout. Probably my favorite bourbon county beer so far. Rich in the palate. ABV is well-hidden. A great beer.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of blackberry jam with light chocolate notes with some light whiskey notes is very interesting. Taste is a complex mix between sweet blackberry jam with some chocolate notes, some dry roasted malt with vanilla and light whiskey notes. Body is dense with smooth texture and good carbonation with alcohol really not that apparent. Maybe a little too much focus on the blackberry jam notes but a very nice beer nonetheless.

Deep black pour with a brown head. Aroma is berries, roasted malt, rye.. Taste is berries on first sip, followed by roasted malt., rye in the finish. The beer clings to the side of the glass. More berry flavor base. Not as thick as other BCS variants. Alc comes out as it warms.

Bottle thanks to Bursprak! Pours a pitch black with a small, short lasting, brown head. Aroma has lots of sweet berries, jam, slightly tart as well. Caramel, sweet, roasty malts, vanilla and some oak. Taste has a cool combination between the sweet and the sour berries, and then this vanilla oaky bourbon. Slight sugary sweetness as well. Not very roasty, but some chocolate going on as well. Very sticky body and low carbonation. Cool beer. well done! I really like it!

Bottle, shared by dresden, who brought me half of a freshly opened bottle even though we could not physically sit down and drink it together-- thanks Steve! Bottle is dated Nov 2013. Hearty near black pour, light brown head. Lovely combination of jammy field berries, chocolate, and bourbon, with notes of caramel, vanilla, and yoghurt. Sticky, complex, reminiscent of a ruby port. Loved it-- very much my kind of beer.

Outstanding imperial stout. High ABV but not boozy. Slightly sweet in flavor. Just good.

22 oz. bottle, drank at 14+ months old. Had this fresh, but waited to rate fully from the bottle. Pour looks like all of the Bourbon Counties; viscous, rich, with a small tan head. Nose fresh was huge and jammy, with gigantic dark fruits and bright berries, mixed with the classic rich vanilla, chocolate ganache classic base beer. With the age the nose loses a lot of the fruit apart from deep behind the rich sweet roast character. The flavor, however, is fucking nuts. The fruit is WAY more integrated, and it balances the beer in an absolutely gorgeous manner. Totally unreal.

Thick black nearly still with creamy tan head. Big fruit aroma. Strawberry preserves, fruit jam and vanilla, with strong malt. Big bourbon flavours with jam. Doesn’t totally do it for me but it’s all executed. Thanks Tim, sort of kind of shared with Tony.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, big thanks to Scoopey, 28/11/14. Black with a decent tan covering that soon dissipates edgeward. Nose is rich maltskys, chocolate, woody resonance but not too intense a dose of bourbonics, dark red berry notes. Taste comprises chocolate, raspberry licks, dark maltings, spice, subtle bourbon, red berry linger. Full bodied, fine carbonation, sweet licks and lightly warming alcohol in the close. Soldi impydom.

Man this is good. Pours black with quickly dissipating mocha head. Aromas are red berries, jam, spicy rye, vanilla. Flavors are sweet red berries, jam, and dark chocolate finish. So smooth and so good.
