COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Always on the lookout for the next thing they can throw in a barrel, our brewers actually looked no further than their own backyard for this release – literally. Inspired by the berries they remember first eating from the trees in their yards; this Bourbon County release is full of the dark, spicy, and pleasantly sweet flavors of mulberries, marionberries, and boysenberries. This trio of fruit nicely rounds out the spice and heat of the rye whiskey barrels in which they were aged, resulting in a smooth, jammy stout perfect for sipping on your back porch.

Great blend of berries, red wine, and molasses. A little spice from the rye. Not much roasted malt flavor - a very different type of stout. Probably my favorite bourbon county beer so far. Rich in the palate. ABV is well-hidden. A great beer.

22oz bottle shared at CC/KY tasting. A unique variation for sure. Fruity mulberry tones jump out at you. Adds another dimension for sure. Very tasty.

This review was written by candle light, so it was even more difficult to read than normal. Black, loose beige head. Smells like cherry, raspberry, vanilla chocolate and coffee. Taste is really fruity, at least compared to what I was expecting. Cherry, blueberry, mixed with a healthy dose of coffee, vanilla, and dark chocolate. Great combination of flavors.

Black/brown pour with creamy tan head and lace. Aroma is sweet chocolate, rye, fruity esters, and nice abv. Flavor is same chocolate, fruitiness, abv, and a nice malt bitter finish. Medium body with smooth carbonation. extra nice

Serving: 22 oz. bottle. I’ve had this sitting around for awhile and figured it was time to open it up. Dark brown pour with a dark brown head. Fruity nose with bits of berry, roasted malt, and chocolate. Rich and smooth on the tongue. A nice blending of wood, berries, roast, chocolate, and rye whiskey. Full bodied with a long finish. Very nice.

Superbe.

Bottle 1444 (?) at home, sampled at cellar temperature. Pours deep dark brown with an intense ruby red huie, beautifully coloured head but dissipating very quickly. Little bummer on that part. Aroma is rich molasse and caramel with a nice forest fruit touch to it, especially raspberries and blackberries. Don’t get the spicy notes they refer to, but I do get a little of the alcohol, and as Always, lots of the bourbon heat. Medium body, sweet and some fruity sourness, in the back quite a lot of alcohol heat. The taste is marvelous: loads of the roasty malts, coffee and a long aftertaste of pure forest fruits. I doubt a bit if the fruits are real; I miss the fruit tartness in this beer, it’s a tad too jammy and sticky. A nice beer overall.

"Fantastic brew, as expected. Even some head on this monster. Jammy quality, like the Bramble Rye, but slightly less in the nose and palate, and a big huge hit of chocolate and berries in the (lingering) aftertaste. Roast, cocoa, vanilla, berry jam, whiskey. Good "balance". Sticky, but ridiculously smooth for nearly 13%. A welcome addition to the BCS line (though for my money, the cheaper BCS coffee is the way to go). Best of 2014!!! So far..."

On tap at Brouwer’s for Migration Week. Really interesting twist on this brew. The berries really come through strongly, making it almost like a cordial - the bourbon and vanilla somehow migrate toward chocolate. A little overbearing; I think they actually detract from the brew. Still damn good, just not my favorite variant.
