Going back to my notes on this one. It was at the tail end of a local tasting I did with friends from a while back, and the numbers are circled nicely but the writing is a bit vague. "Wow, just awesome... first rye I’ve been blown away by." Not exactly a helpful description. I do remember loving it though.

Bottle. Aroma is packed with jammy berries. Good amount of milk chocolate too with some light whiskey. Taste is packed with rich berries. Crazy how much berry is here still after 3.5 years. Milk chocolate, oak, and light rye spice finish it out. Great variant.

Bomber bottle shared by a friend. 2011 version allready... Poured your regular bourbon county pitch black colour With a small non lasting beige head. Leasing a small oily ring, fresh raspberries and dark berries hits the nose in no time, dark roasted malts, dark sweet bitter chocolate, spiced rye, oak, mouthfeel explodes with dark berries, going to a sweet raspberry and spiced rye whisky finish. Some charred oak, such a full mouthfeel. Still a ton of fruit in this one. After 4 years now. This is at it’s peak. Backyard was to arteficial. Cherry was really good, but this one is spot on! Best fruited version of bourbon county for me! Incredible

THICK. This pours from the bottle like syrup -- a scary, viscous muck. Deep black in hue, with a whisper-thin layer of raspberry-brown bubbles that rises from the deep. In the aroma, this is very similar to the standard BCS: rich vanilla, butterscotch, toffee, milk chocolate, a touch of toast. A swirl brings out the berries, a background of raspberry and marionberry. The flavor is very similar to BCS as well, displaying the same rich chocolate and French vanilla notes. When cold, the adjuncts are muted, but near room temperature they emerge in a big way. Blue and blackberries swirl, while tart raspberry grips the back of the tongue in the finish. The body is a fairly water medium-light, not nearly as thick as expected. Jammy overall. The berries take the edge off the whiskey and add a nice wrinkle to the flavor.

Bottle from my cellar. Pours the part. Nose is full of bourbon and slight berry. The berry flavoring is more pronounced up front in the mouth, bourbon and chocolate finish. Body is a tad thinner than many of the bcbcs variety, but still packs a punch.

Bottle. Appearance is black motor oil with a thin layer of chocolate head. Aroma is milk chocolate, vanilla, and raspberry jam. Taste is chocolate, raspberry jam, light vinious undertones, and coffee. Finshes with burnt brown sugar, light carbonation, and full bodied. Overall, this really tasty, not nearly as sweet as some of the reviews had me thinking this might be but this bottle is over three years old, still decedent though and best enjoyed in small samples.

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: lots of dried fruits, raisins, malty, sweet, forest fruits. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, very fruits, raspberries, alcohol, sour cherries, boozy, forest fruits, vanilla, caramel, pretty sugary. Aftertaste: sweet, red currants, alcohol, boozy, very fruity, sourish touch, vanilla, more alcohol, very alcoholic. Finished the bottle and got wasted after all. :p The end of a great tasting!

Pours pitch black with a tiny tan head. Smells of fruit and hints of chocolate. Taste is blackberry, raspberry, spicy, chocolate. Full-bodied with a smooth texture and soft mouth-carbonation, Goose Island Bourbon County Stout Bramble Rye finishes with a fruity sweetness.

Bottle, thanks to cocoapuph! Pours opaque black, fairly fizzy small tan head that dissipates fairly quickly with some residual lacing. Aroma is chocolate, blackberry, toffee, whiskey, vanilla. Flavor is quite sweet, strong berries, black berries in particular, lots of milk chocolate, rye whiskey. Fullish body, some creaminess. Nice beer, pretty sweet tho. Sorry I opened this alone...

Pours a viscous, coal black color, with super fizzy head, leaving behind a thin, white lacing.
Has pungent aromas of slightly sour, fermented fruits, with matured raspberries being the most present for me. The prominent fruitiness gets joined by wooden bakers chocolate, fudge and toffee, topped off by sticky fruit syrup. The syrupy aspect invites a decent barrel oakiness to the palate, together with slightly sweetened cocoa and a rich Bourbon note, revealing dried blackberries.
Begins with earthy malts, slightly bitter coffee, chocolate and dried fruits, which got a fermented acidity to them, creating an unusual sour note, which blends perfectly into the coffee. This gets coated up by syrup and toffee, highlighting noble, ripe wild berries, while blackberries turn out more present then they did on the nose. On this sweet fruit impression settles a pungent, wooden, hot Bourbon bite, highlighting the berries even more, by creating a liqueur impression. While bakers chocolate and wooden malts still provide a convincing balance, the beer is certainly on the sweeter side, with warming marmelade and syrupy molasses among a wooden vanilla dryness. The prominent berries prevail till the end, with sugared lemon peel being added to the mix, while the bourbon leaves a sharp bite on the tongue, which turns out to be slightly tooth numbing, with chocolate malts and a whiff of syrup adding a recognizable sweetness to the slightly wooden dry finish.
