Draft at Cannery Row Brewing. Nose is chocolate covered cherries, bourbon, oak, vanilla, and extra cherries. Pitch black with a virtually nonexistent head. (Did Tommie at Lost Abbey brew this?) Flavor is cherries, chocolate, and light bourbon from the syrupy body. Excellent!

Stouts III Tasting. Thanks to Bruce for this belter! Almost opaque dark brown beer, little tan head. Palate is smooth and slightly viscous with fine carbonation. Sweetish dark chocolate with a little aniseed and spice. Malt cream. Lovely morello cherry, not too sweet. Little rye spice. Touches of marzipan and almond. Finishes sweet and mildly spicy. Lovely!

Bottle @ ZeeBra Extreme Beer Festival 2013. Pitch black pour. Aroma is roasty, cherries, fruity, smooth and burnt. Flavor is slightly sour, sweet, quite bitter, roasted, a bit messy. One of the lesser Bourbon County brews, but still great.

Bottle @ ZeeBra. Aroma has big sour cherry and other red fruits, also stout in the background. Flavour is liquorice, roast and slight sour cherry with a faint bready whiskey notes. Awesome combo.

Bottle pours very dark brown with thin tan head. Aroma cherry, malts, whiskey. Taste dark fruits, dark cherry with faint rye and strong caramel malts. Rich full thick palate. Finish mainly a continuation of the taste.

I enjoyed this more than the bramble, which was very fruit forward with a BCS behind it. This beer integrates the fruit very well to make a unique taste of it’s own.

Pitch black, small head. Cherry, very clearly present, bay leave, raisin, bit of chocolate. Heat of sherry, cherry and sweetness. Nice, special, if you like sweetness of booze. Interesting aromas, must try. (Zeebra)

(22oz bottle) clearish deep brown, few bubbles. Nose of rich sour real cherry, light spicy rye, milk chocolate, rich barrel. Taste of real cherry juice, light chocolate syrup, complex, well integrated, medium thick body, sweet real cherry linger. No medicinal cherry here.

I brought this bottle to DLD13 with anticipation of sharing with other beer aficionados. Sadly, the DLD experience has changed over the years as the goal of monetizing the event took an obvious role this year. Oh well. Good on them. An oily black pour with a off-white / tan head. Bursting with wood, roast, dark chocolate, vanilla and marshmallow. Dark fruit at times but with a resounding caramel backbone. Very rich with the full complexity shining as it warmed in my glass. Balanced mouth feel. Not cloying but on the sweet side. Bourbon and sweetness took over as it warmed to room temp. A truly superb imperial stout and one of my favorite BCS variants.

Draft. Pours black with a little off white head. Nose is bourbon barrel and tart cherries. Taste showcases the base beer but with huge cherry note. Reminds me of Hostess cherry pies. Not quite as medicinal as some make it out to be. Very sweet but not totally cloying. Pretty nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black, tan head. Nose is medicinal cherry, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon. Taste is cherry cordial, bourbon, vanilla. Full, silky mouthfeel.
