Our brewers love experimenting with their beer almost as much as they love drinking it. This unique blend, aged in rye whiskey barrels with loads of whole Michigan cherries, is the one they are proud to finally let you share with your friends at home – or not. After your first sip, you’ll agree, this beer has some real stones.

Bottle with friends courtesy of Armin. Thanks man!! Pour is deep, viscous black with a small brown head that quickly dissipated. Big rasins, figs, prunes, roasty, light cocoa, dark cherries, a touch of coffee, molasses, and leathery aroma. Taste is big roasty, tart cherry, light bourbon, woody, dark chocolate, dark fruits, leather, earthy, and coconut with a touch of alcohol burn on the backend. Thick/syrupy mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Dark chocolate covered cherries and the alcohol is hidden beautifully and the barrel doesn’t dominate. Nice stuff!

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, thanks nightrider! Thick black pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of rye, whiskey, nice bourbon notes, hints of dark chocolate, coffee, hints of roast, touch of oak, slight cherry notes, pretty nice. Taste is a mix of dark chocolate, roast, hints of nice bourbon, whiskey, hints of rye, slight cherry, finishing fairly sweet, nice vanilla, coconut notes. Nice beer, but like the regular better.

Virtually inexistant rim around red-shot black beer. Cherry-chocolate, sweet, Bourbon, vanilla; ’over the top’ and yet somewhere perfectly acceptable. Sweet, cherry and CINNAMON, to the extent that I seriously suspect it’s been added. Quite sweet, Belgian buns, cinnamon apples. Rich, alcoholheat, feels more spritzy than it looks. The cinnamon thing disturbs me... Really swet, not really fruity. Decadent, in a homely way. Thanks to the donator!

My favorite of the three versions that I sampled. A big strong cherry presence. Pie like taste. The rye spice adds a good note to counterbalance that sweetness. Those two flavors are more than the bourbon which prefer.

P: Jet black with a spotty brown head, and reddish lacing. S: Oak, some spice rye licorice, and just a hint of oak. T: Really sweet cherry, cherry pie, some peppermint candy, some caramel and just a hint of oak. It finally finishes with warm bourbon. M: Full body, low to medium carbonation, syrupy. O: I really enjoyed this one, the cherries stay with you forever. Awsome.

Pour is jet black with a small amount of dark caramel head. Nose has whiskey up front, some light malt body with a strong sweetness behind. Overly sugary but a fair amount of cherry. Taste is also overly sweet in the finish, the whiskey is up front, the malt is more pronounced, a bit more rich chocolate fudge but no where near rare and much less than regular bcs. The cherry dominates the finish and seems overly sweet. Body is slightly oily, not as big as I remember other bcs bottles, fairly nicely carbonated, though.

The 22oz bomber pours with a deep dark brown body that has deep ruby red edges and supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweetness, rich nectar like cherry juice notes and heading into molasses, sweet bourbon and coconut. Dang, there is a sizeable load of heat waiting for your snoot at the end of the draw. The taste is rich and smooth with sweet cherries and almost sweetened dark currants mixing with boozy heat and smooth bourbon. In the background is a pleasing boozy chocolate fudge cake and dark roasted maltiness providing solid footing for this beer. Nice rich cherry forward beer.

22oz bottle: pours an oily opaque with a thin spotty-lacing dark brown head. Has a sweet rich dark chocolate caramel and cherry nose with a healthy dose of vanilla and bourbon. Starts with good fullness and chewy dark malts well-balanced with tart cherries and oaky bourbon. Finishes smooth and sweet with some dark cherry notes. Has some unique flavors, but I prefer the regular version.

Pours very dark brown with a tan/burnt orange head. The aroma has vanilla, cream, dark chocolate, roasted malt, spice, licorice, hints of cherry and pretty smooth bourbon character. The body is quite full, thick and smooth with a bit of fairly gentle carbonation. Starts with very full and rich roasted malt, dark chocolate, tart cherries and good amount of fruitiness. The finish shows a bit of alcohol, but nowhere near the 13.9% that’s in this. It also shows some spice and more assertive tart with the cherries, but there is a strong enough malt base to maintain a big stout taste against it. Very well done. My favorite of the Bourbon County series.
