Thanks durhambeer for sharing. Another homer from GI. Inky black pour with one finger of tan head. Incredible aroma with notes of blackstrap molasses, dark fruit skins, tart cherry, cured tobacco, vanilla, toasted coconut, and spicy alcohol. Very dense and rich flavor with notes of toasted coconut and burnt wood with cherry and fruit skins. Molasses and chocolate with notes of coffee. No heat or bitterness in the mouthfeel or finish. Viscous body with a low carrbonation and coating finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by Dean during the 4000 tasting. Poured a deep brown/blackish body under a smaller beige head. Aroma of cherry, chocolate fudge, alcohol, dark berries, wet wood, jelly and dark cherries. Medium to fuller body, stronger carbonation for a BA beer, smooth despite the stronger carbonation, lingering taste. Flavor is the same as the aroma. Great beer all around.

Bottle: 2012 vintge: Thanks Preismj: Served in a Chouffe glass:
Black beer with a somewhat lively small brown head.
Aroma is brilliantly mixed. Everything is perfectly present in the aroma. Itís almost if itís equaly divided: the cherries, the roast, coffee and more dark chocolate, the whiskey notes and some soft sweet hints of marzipan and cream. Awesome aroma!
The flavour is still a bit spicy with alcohol, but also quite well balanced and close to a subtle but strong complexity. Maybe aging it a year would have soften it out a bit, but I couldnít resist the call of Cherry Rye.
From the moment this beer enters your mouth your tastebuds sense a certain sensation: thick mix of spices, whiskey notes, cherries, roast, light peppery (alcohol), dark chocolate, some coffee roast, wood roast, hint of mocha, hint of malt roast, some raspberry, hint of bay leaf and a marzipan sprinkle. God damn this is delicious. Comes close to Narke Kaggen Raspberry but is not yet there... As somebody at Borefts told me to open this because of the taste conection it should have with the Narke Kaggen Raspberry. Maybe itís this that also tickled my mind to open this beer. Letís call it a mix of this and the important fact that I truely love an Imperial Stout with red fruit! Not to talk about the fact that this beer has also been treated with a Whiskey barrel aging treatment.
Aftertaste is strong and complex: bitters, roast, warm, whiskey, some cherries, malts, a hint of bay leaf/herbs and a fizzy/spiced touch to finish it all.
Low carbo, spicy close to silky and thicker mouthfeel, full bodied and a viscous light sticky warm texture.
This beer nails it pretty much. A great balance and complexity. Delicious in every way! Very happy that I had a bomber instead of a small bottle (if they even excist). Anyways awesome stuff! To talk about in decades to come!

Bottle at Jester King. Black pour with a tan head. The aroma is full of cherry, chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor has a ton of cherries in it with some milk chocolate and roasted malt. The cherry notes are very juicy. The beer is very sweet overall. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
bottle shared by a friend. poured a dark black oily colour with a 2 sec lasting mocha coloured head. lotís of lacing on the side of the glass. your classic bourbon county aroma, bit less of the bourbon hit as the regular (could also be because of the rye barrel instead of the bourbon) dark chocolate, lotís of roasted goodness, on the back there is a cherry sweetness. vanilla. taste is like a cherry soaked in bourbon and chocolate, itís complex and itís not that the cherry takes over the entire beer. bourbon-ish booze, whisky, raisins, licorice, amazing version

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
"ABV amped up even a tiny bit more than older varieties, so the chocolate, booze and pruney sweetness are pretty up front and center. Thereís vanilla too, and the cherry sneaks up on you with little blasts of tart, then rolls back to whiskey, then chocolate. Very complex, delicious as expected...though Iíll still take a Rare, Bramble or Coffee :)"

Bottled @ Zeebra #2. 5cl sample. The aroma has cherries, some vanilla, roast. Black coloured beer with a thin, off-white head. The taste is light-moderate bitter, bit sweet, has roast, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon and a subtle fruity cherry taste. Medium-full bodied. Very nice!
