On draught at ABV Public House. Deep amber brown color with dark brown lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate covered espresso beans, latte, cherry, and a hint of smoke. Taste is strong cold brewed coffee, dark chocolate, bourbon, oak, dark cherry, and roasted malt. An incredible stout with a wonderful addition of the coffee.

On tap at Capone’s. Pours black with a tan creamy head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, bourbon, vanilla, and dark fruit. Strong coffee flavor with roasted malt, bourbon, vanilla, and dark chocolate. One of the best I’ve had in a long time!

355 ml. bottle @ home. Obtained in a trade with AdamJackson! Pours black with an instantly gone small tanned head. Nose is very thick molasses, syrup, bourbon, creamy dark chocolate, typical BCBS goo smell, with lots of roasted coffee, way more than expected here on my behalf. Tastes of very thick molasses, bourbon, caramel, chocolate, very thick syrupy, that BCBS syrup adorable taste is clearly here, mocha ice cream, vanilla, lots more coffee than expected, lots of real coffee bean, chocolate syrup, warming but booze is way less than what I am used with BCBS maybe the coffee covers it, the lesser presence of alcohol makes this my favourite BCBS so far because the unbalanced boozy character of this almost made them close to perfect but not cigar for me, fudge, brownie mix, thick chocolate syrup, vanilla,… Insanely thick & syrupy with lower carbonation, this is insane, I love the BCBS beers so much, this reminds me of the first time I tried a RIS, this is sure an experience.

Some dude gave me half a glass in the queue for Blåbær Lambic. Thanks dude... Whoever you are! Pours pitch black, slight edgy tanned head. Mocca hues. Aromas of strong bourbon, coffee, roasted malt, raisin, dried dark fruits. Taste is that Classic bourbon county with some more roastedness and dark coffee.

Bottle 355ml from De Hopduvel, vintage 2013. Oily black colour, thin layer of brown foam. Soft carbonation. Aroma of roasted malts with sweet coffee (where is the roastiness of a black coffee?), vanilla, brown sugar and bourbon, a bit too much. This beer well balanced but it’s a bit too cloying sweet for me. Aftertaste of warming alcohol. I like more roastiness and ashes in stouts.

A big thanks to HisBoyElroy for the share on this want. A straight black pour with a really nice dark chocolate color head. Unfortunately the gorgeous head dissipates too quick. Very nice nose with a lot of vanilla, coffee, and bourbon. Extremely smooth stout. Very true coffee flavors. Definitely a dangerous drink. Very drinkable.

’14 on draft and ’12 from bottle pour at Heidelberg’s Migration Week tapping. Pours a dark brown with a thin head that disappears quickly. Aromas are very coffee forward with hints of chocolate and bourbon in the finish. Taste is bourbon and a whiff of chocolate followed by an intense hit of chocolate. The ’12 was obviously aged and more subdued, balanced and less bitter. Palate is very well balanced but coffee is the predominant flavor here. I prefer the ’12 as the coffee seems more settled and less overpowering. More likely to the aging though.

On tap at Heidelberg for a Goose Island migration week tap takeover. The pour is jet black with a thin dark khaki head and no lacing. This thing just falls to black liquid, which I love. The aroma is blasting with coffee. Incredible. The roasty malts pale in comparison, and the coffee is just beautiful. Not overly done, but nicely dominated. The flavor is just as great. It’s a little hot, but the coffee and the rye barrels keep it from being over bearing. The mouth feel is thick and viscousy, with minimal carbonation, and a lovely roasty, molasses-y flavor to go along with the incredible coffee. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
