COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Everyday Goose Island smells the wonderful coffee roasting next to our brewery at Chicago’s Intelligentsia Coffee and Tea. This world class roaster puts the same passion and skill into their coffee as Goose Island does with its beer. This excellent stout is made with a different coffee from our friends next door each year. With the change in coffee comes a change in the flavor profile, making each release truly unique from the previous years.

- First bottle release seen in Spring 2010 as "Bourbon County Coffee Stout".
- Also available previous years at the brewpub as "Black Cat Bourbon County Stout"

It poured a black color with a dark brown head. The aroma was a ton of coffee, which was to be expected. The taste was an awesome amount of vanilla, chocolate, bourbon that all mixed well with the coffee. Very, very good.

Lots of folk at the festival raved about this brew, but to me the heavy aroma and flavor of espresso overpowered the wonderful Imperial Stout at the base. Espresso, roasted barley, dark chocolate, and anise blended together in both, but the coffee wins out. Dry nutty finish.

I thought Bourbon County couldn’t get much better. Add Black Cat espresso, and its markedly improved. My favorite beer of the day after the Livery’s Weizenbock. Strong notes of espresso, tar, licorice on the nose lead into a fantastic blend of dried cherry, mocha, and fudge. Thick, viscous, impressive all around.

Pour dark and thick like a good espresso. Bitter up front with a sweet vanilla finish.

Coffee forward, strong on the nose and opens bitter. Great BCBS follows after bitterness, overall a wonderful compliment of flavor to the traditional.

Sampled at GABF multiple times. Black appearance with a brown head. Fresh coffee grounds, chocolate, roasted malts, oak, vanilla and light bourbon. Mind = blown

2012 bottle. Wonderful aroma is both interesting and appealing. Drinks like an imperial milk stout with coffee. A tad too sweet in the finish.

Pours an opaque, nearly black with a short-lived dark tan head. Rich, dark woody aromas and light notes of fresh coffee. Thick, smooth and chewy. Very rich brew. A lot of vanilla, bourbon, oak, and sweet cherry and fig. Not much coffee. Addendum: as the beer warms, I note a lot more coffee

"this one was cool enough that i just ordered a kilo a the coffee that was in this beer. still young, and therefore a little hot. definitely sweet, but not cloyingly so. this beer, as well as the rare, makes me wonder if this beer was 10 or 11% if it would get an even higher score. the heat is the only thing keeping this from, say, a 4.7-8. coffee, chocolate, vanilla, charred malt...damn good all around. can’t wait for the coffee beans. in 6-12 months, it may be higher in the feel."
