Pours jet black with a mocha head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of soy sauce, coffee, chocolate and alcohol. Thick and sticky. Taste is awesome. Sweet bourbon, vanilla, coffee and warming alcohol, wow!

3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 12 oz bottle. Inky black pour, initial foamy khaki colored head that settles after a while. Aroma is the highlight of this one with some sweet tiramisu note, whiff of bourbon and the smell of a coffee grinder as it is grinding your dark roast coffee. Big bold flavor with a bourbon front end onslaught, some strong espresso notes hanging around in the back end, some creosote, a hint of licorice. Mouthfeel is thick and syrupy. Great in all individual parts, just the cloying nature of if brings down the overall score. 12 oz was more than enough!

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2013 Bottling. One of the best coffee stours Iíve ever had. The nose perfectly balances the bourbon, the stout and the coffee. The coffee is definitely prominent but it doesnít dominate everything completely. Likewise the palate is huge and thick and chewy as you would expect from a bourbon county stout. Flavor is a perfect balance. Not to sweet, not to bitter. The roast character and the bourbon interplay with huge vanilla, tobacco, chocolate and raisin notes. The only areas that keep this from being the perfect beer is that its nothing incredibly mind blowing like BA Hunahpus, BA Abraxas, Morning Wood, or Kentucky Brunch. And the appearance while nice is not as awe inspiring as some other stout offerings. Minor quibbles all, this is an amazing beer.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
2013 Bottle to snifter. Pitch black body with a thin mahogany Brown head that dances around the edge of the glass a bit. Nose is really strong dark coffee that cloaks a body of bourbon with vanilla, chocolate, and oaky vanilla notes; almost buttery. Taste is a good mix of coffee and bourbon up front that splits into a smooth buttery vanilla body, to a coffee bitter finish that is perfectly warming. Sweet cherry notes throughout. Amazing beer.

12 oz bottle. 2013 vintage shared. Jet black. No lacing. Huge nose of coffee, oak, vanilla, and a hint of cinnamon. Huge her with a huge taste. Boozy and full of barrel characteristics. The balance of the coffee really pairs well and cuts down on the astringency. It makes the beer much more balanced and enjoyable. Dangerous.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
2013 bottle had less than a week after release. Massive high end coffee nose. Deep black and viscous. Rich coffee flavor, with slight herbaceousness and soft dark fruit. Coffee bitterness really cuts through the sweetness compared to the íregularí I tried beside it...very different beers but both ultimately great in their own regards. Agree with others: smoke íem if you got íem.

Surprised I havenít reviewed this one yet (this bottle is one of the couple the COOP could provide me. I am very appreciative)
Years ago, Inflatablechair hooked our tasting group with the 22ís of this one plenty of times. Tonight a í13 12oz is all mine. A short-lived dark brown head rises only about a quarter inch up and dies very quickly... the brew pours thick and very smooth.
The nose is for the most part hammered with coffee beans... not "ground coffee" but cracked coffee beans... there is a nice cocoa element that doesnít really rise up until things warm considerably... the bourbon/barrel presence is not as much as I remember in the 1st batch, but it is still certainly present.
Flavor mirrors the nose with a strong dark fruity element.. a big figgy component that adds needed sweetness... the malts help balance the big coffee bean presence.. very nice chocolate waves sorta envelope the entire palate.
Huge body is no surprise... mild carbonation begs for a sip and contemplation.
Donít age this one... Not worth it.

Bottle from Proof. Pitch black pour with a dense brown head. Huge coffee aroma, cocoa nibs, coconut, vanilla beans, oak, sweet bourbon with a hint of dark fruits. Sweet chocolate on the front of the tongue, powdered cocoa, coconut, vanilla, bourbon in the mid palate, roasted malts and charred oak coming through in the back end. Rich bodied and soft carbonation. Alcohol heat isnít that noticeable. Goddamn delicious.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours a pitch black with a small tan head with nice lacing. Aroma is of gourmet coffee, roasted malts, licorice, dark fruits, bourbon, molasses, vanilla, and a little booze. Taste is similar to the aroma with the addition of some tobacco notes and some cold brew iced coffee flavors. Has a full body with creamy, oily mouthfeel, and a moderately bitter, long finis. Overall, a very nice imp. stout that is just as good as original BCBS and features coffee from one of my favorite roasters nicely.
