COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Everyday Goose Island smells the wonderful coffee roasting next to our brewery at Chicago’s Intelligentsia Coffee and Tea. This world class roaster puts the same passion and skill into their coffee as Goose Island does with its beer. This excellent stout is made with a different coffee from our friends next door each year. With the change in coffee comes a change in the flavor profile, making each release truly unique from the previous years.

- First bottle release seen in Spring 2010 as "Bourbon County Coffee Stout".
- Also available previous years at the brewpub as "Black Cat Bourbon County Stout"

Pours dark with a head that looked thick but disappears fast and no lace. The bourbon is very evident in the nose. The coffee is in the taste more than the aroma. Great bourbon taste with nice coffee background. A great beer all in all.

Was able to pick up a 32oz growler at a Migration event. Poured into a snifter, deep black with a foamy chocolate disappearing head. Huge nose dominated by bourbon, oak, dark fruits, and vanilla. Flavors of roasted coffee, vanilla, oak, and bourbon. Low carbonation and an oily mouthfeel.

Pours that nice clean dark chocolate color youd expect but doesnt look thick or heavy like you get with some imp stouts and has almost no head. Smells like all kinds of rich coffee, chocolate and anise. Judging by smell it’s tough to say if it has a big dose of anise or if it’s the diesel from the 14%. On the 1st sip i thought, wow theres alot going on here, but the flavors dont linger long. The beer manages to have a fresh coffee taste up front that transitions to a chocolate flavor that goes back to a roasted coffee bean flavor on the back side. Much like their regular bourbon county stout the higj abv is masked wonderfully amd its go just the right amoumt of sweet. With out a doubt one of the best stoits ive ever had.

Lots of folk at the festival raved about this brew, but to me the heavy aroma and flavor of espresso overpowered the wonderful Imperial Stout at the base. Espresso, roasted barley, dark chocolate, and anise blended together in both, but the coffee wins out. Dry nutty finish.

I thought Bourbon County couldn’t get much better. Add Black Cat espresso, and its markedly improved. My favorite beer of the day after the Livery’s Weizenbock. Strong notes of espresso, tar, licorice on the nose lead into a fantastic blend of dried cherry, mocha, and fudge. Thick, viscous, impressive all around.

Pour dark and thick like a good espresso. Bitter up front with a sweet vanilla finish.

Coffee forward, strong on the nose and opens bitter. Great BCBS follows after bitterness, overall a wonderful compliment of flavor to the traditional.

Sampled at GABF multiple times. Black appearance with a brown head. Fresh coffee grounds, chocolate, roasted malts, oak, vanilla and light bourbon. Mind = blown

2012 bottle. Wonderful aroma is both interesting and appealing. Drinks like an imperial milk stout with coffee. A tad too sweet in the finish.
