Everyday Goose Island smells the wonderful coffee roasting next to our brewery at Chicagoís Intelligentsia Coffee and Tea. This world class roaster puts the same passion and skill into their coffee as Goose Island does with its beer. This excellent stout is made with a different coffee from our friends next door each year. With the change in coffee comes a change in the flavor profile, making each release truly unique from the previous years.

- First bottle release seen in Spring 2010 as "Bourbon County Coffee Stout".

Pours dark with a head that looked thick but disappears fast and no lace. The bourbon is very evident in the nose. The coffee is in the taste more than the aroma. Great bourbon taste with nice coffee background. A great beer all in all.

Aromas of bourbon, coffee and a touch of oak. The malt and hops are there but overshadowed by the bourbon, coffee and alcohol. Some nice dried plum flavors. Very sparse head; very dark brown beer with a touch of dark red to it. Very sweet, presumably from the very high alcohol contract. A generalized bitterness, but no distinct, specific hop flavor. Full bodied; creamy texture; average to slightly light carbonation; finish is long, finish is quite long and sweet with bourbon, coffee flavors and that general bitterness. Overall this is a very good beer. However I rate it lower than the average RB rating; the alcohol and bourbon are just too dominate. The hops are overwhelmed and the roasted flavors of most stouts (especially coffee stouts) are also in the background. The dried plum flavors are a strength.

On tap @ Brouwerís. Pours thick viscous deep inky blacksmith thin oily dark mocha head that fades quickly to a thin whisp. Aroma is heavily roasted dark chocolate malt, fresh brewed coffee, a decided dry oaky note that follows through the finish. Taste is... whoa. Amazingly thick mouthfeel. Huge rich dark chocolate syrup with a couple shots of espresso infused comes to mind. Rich, dry, oaky finish with notes of toasted caramel and vanilla bean on the finish. Dark chocolate and espresso dominate. I donít know that this is better than standard BCS - definitely comparable in quality, and the coffee melds incredibly well with the base beer, but the original balance seems superior to me. Still, that is nitpicking here. World class beer.

Draft, decent head for what it is, faded, little lace. Aroma sweet coffee, boubon, anise, molasses, cookies and burnt sugar, smoke, oak, dark fruit deep in the nose. Taste is sweet coffee, vanilla, oak, smoky burnt sugar, anise, bourbon. Palate super rich, carbonation subdued. This is sweet, almost too sweet, but the Flavors are amazing.

12oz bottle into tulip. Minneapolis. 2014 vintage. Pours jet black with small rim of offwhite head. Aroma is really nice. Rich coffee and coconut. Oaky whiskey notes are pretty heavy. Subtle alcohol. Taste is sweet up front but balanced by bitterness in the finish. Really well done. Body is very full. Very rich. Smooth texture. Long long finish. This is a really rich sipper. Vey full of flavor.

Keg at the White Horse, Parsonís Green. A half pint for £3.50 - other London pubs take note and feel ashamed. The tap label says 2011 vintage, but Iíll take that with a pinch of salt. Black, small foamy brown head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and vanilla. Body is medium, slightly foamy, low carbonation. Taste is milky bourbon, lactic, chocolatey with plenty of the promised coffee, boozey finish. Very nice. May well have got a higher rating if it wasnít served so cold, but I didnít have the time or patience to wait for it to warm up.

Keg at The White Horse American Beer Festival 2015, Parsons Green, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Rich, bourbon, coffee aroma. Tastes rich coffee, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, sweet. A really big Imperial Stout and great to see it here in London.

Cask at Sloany Pony American bf. Pours black with dirty tan head. Smell the bourbon and coffee, taste the bourbon but not too overpowering and develops into coffee and roasts. Nice and viscous. Sticks to your ribs. Urter filth and bloody lovely.

22 oz. bottle poured into a goblet. Consumed in 2011, but I didnít record what year bottle it was. Pours a very dark black with a small tan head. No lacing. No retention. Sticky as hell. Looks like regular Bourbon County. Bourbon and lots of it on the nose. I get the stout behind it a bit and some of the coffee, but really itís a bourbon show. After a strong whiff, I actually get a strong fruitiness that I didnít get before. Bourbon and coffee flavors mix. Itís a nice blend, really. Itís not too coffee forward. Has a chocolate flavor in the back and a bit of a vegetal flavor that is odd. Itís all about the bourbon, though. So boozy. So very very boozy. Low carbonation. Not too heavy, but a thick, mouth-coating stout. Itís a hint smoother than regular Bourbon County. I donít think the coffee adds much. It adds a slight dimension. . A delicious beer, but I think itís still rough around the edges.

Smells like bell peppers, enchiladas, and coffee. Medium carbonation with mild foam. Taste is very roasty coffee, alcohol taste and warmth, mild bourbon, dark chocolate, and bell peppers in the aftertaste.
