COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
From Greg Hall:
"BCS rare, I’m excited. Brewed in 2008, aged for 24 months in 23 year old Pappy Van Winkle Barrels. These are the very best smelling barrels I’ve come across in 18 years of barrel aging beer. Barrels were originally filled with spirit in 1985. We have 50 bourbon barrels aging, it will be a one time bottling, it will not be repeated."

22 oz. Bottle. Ok. I waited forever to crack this. Glad to crush this with Carythedude and Jakebra right before jakebra’s wedding. Pours like a precious oil with a dark tan head. Aroma is amazing. Basically, like sticking your head in the perfect bourbon barrel and taking a whiff. Dark chocolate, chocolate mousse. This is rich and decadent. And absolutely delicious. Full mouthfeel, lazy carbonation. It’s quite amazing this is absolutely worth the 50 dollar price tag. What an amazing beer.

22 oz. bottle - Pours a black color with a one finger thick tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is oak/bourbon, coffee, and chocolate. Flavor is chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, and oak/bourbon. The malt and barrel lingers in the finish. Full body. A fantastic beer.

Pours inky black with a mild tint to the edges and wisps of a chestnut brown head. Rich nose with a lots of dark grain and coffee with some tannic oak and light vanilla. Slightly oxidized and the barrel doesn’t come through a ton. Amazing flavor however, vanilla and chocolate all day. Some coffee comes in with notes of molasses and dark fruit. Very portish. Full and velvety body with a warming alcoholic finish.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2011 Bottle @ home, courtesy of TheAlum. He is such a generous dude to trade me this brew for a six pack of Bud Ice and a case of Bud Dry. Hell of a deal! Thanks again, Adam!!!!! Deep black appearance with a dark brown head. Awesome, sweet, smooth, oaky goodness with dark roasty malts in the nose. Sweet, creamy, chocolatey, very nice bourbon beginning. Unbelievable, roasty, awesome flavor. So smooth, so very nice! I thought this beer was probably all hype but this is legendary!!

Bottle. Thanks for sharing, Ethan! This beer was very tasty. I enjoyed the flavor much more than the aroma. Aroma has some wood, light vanilla, and cocoa, but seems very muted when compared to the flavor. It blasts the bourbon but also holds the chocolate and coffee notes in the base beer very well. A little sweet, but not in a cloying sort of way.

Crushed with Honkeybra and Jakebra. Dark, oily pour. Aroma is a rush of bourbon, heavy roasted malts, and dark chocolate. The flavor is like eating a piece of dark chocolate that has been soaked in bourbon. One of the silkiest mouthfeels of all time. One amazing thing about this beer, though, is the drinkability. Just a pleasure to sit back and drink this beer. Top fucking notch.

Very thick pitch black pour, with a thin, dense, tan head. Very oily and thick. Huge chewy dark malts, chocolate, vanilla, very very nice bourbon flavor, oak, boozy but it compliments the bourbon, dark sweet sugary malts, and molasses. Warming and enjoyable in every sip. A great BA imperial stout, if you are into that sort thing.

bottle at RBWG-thanks to whoever let us have this beer. pours pitch black with very little head or carbonation. nose is big oxidization-wood, chocoloate, bourbon. the beer seems really old (well it is 3 yrs to be exact!). big rasins, brown sugar, chocolate, this is crazy! however, this beer tends to be a bit too big for my liking. big tannens from the barrel aging woody alcoholic finish. good but seems to be a bit over the top and tends to the top 50 "mob mentality"
