3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle shared by someone at Paul and Ryan’s 5000 celebration, thanks! Poured black with a dark brown head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma was slightly hot with bourbon backed by dark chocolate, roasted malts and a bit of vanilla and caramel. Flavor was similar with a bourbon note that mellowed that allowed the dark chocolate and roasted malts to come through with some vanilla and caramel in the finish. Nice and thick on the tongue.

22oz. Bottle (Bottled: 11/19/10. #1532.): I got this in a trade from phaleslu; THANKS Peter for this rare hook-up! Complex aroma of malt, Bourbon, light roasting, alcohol, vanilla, light cocoa, slight cherry, slight coconut, light dark ripe fruit, light oak, a hint of soy sauce, and light wood. Poured pitch black in color with a small, loose, dark brown head that disappeared except for around the edges. Opaque. Sparkling. No lacing. Flavor is heavily sweet. Tastes of roasted malt, Bourbon, oak, vanilla, light chocolate, light alcohol, coconut, wood, maple syrup, old Bourbon barrel, light molasses, cookie, fig, date, and some roasting. Full body. Slick, viscous, creamy, texture becomes dry. Light to average carbonation. Malt, Bourbon, vanilla, fig, date, maple syrup, oak, finish is lightly dry. 13%ABV is well hidden throughout, though noticeable in the aroma and flavor, and is rather warming.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
#2100 -- Bottle shared by ygtbsm94. Thanks for sharing this gem, Brad! Black, tan creamy head. Rich bourbon and old oak aromas ride a deep backbone of a warm vanilla raisin cake, fig, and touches of coconut coffee throughout. Bourbon dipped roasted marshmallow and caramel coffee cream flavors round to perfection with a softer backend dried dark fruit and maple-cocoa component. Extreme layers of complexity throughout. Full bodied with pillow soft carbonation. If ever there was the perfect cigar beer…

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to Pantanap for sharing! I wanted to hate this beer b/c of $$ and hype. I can no longer hate. Dark pour with a thin beige head. Aroma of bourbon , vanilla, roast and chocolate. Sweet malts, & chocolate upfront. Big blast of PVW on the backside. OAky tannins, coffee and cream among the subtle teases. These guys know how to make a BA stout.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared by ygtbsm94: Pours an oily opaque with a thin ring of dark tan head. Has an intense sweet roasted dark caramel and chocolate malty nose with some dark fruits and vanilla bourbon complexity. Starts with a smooth, yet rich dark malty sweetness with a nice dark fruity complexity and vanilla flavor before a slightly warming, but balanced finish. A very complex and enjoyable beer, but I think it’s probably at its peak now as far as aging goes.

Dark brown, almost black
gorgeous nose! coconut and bourbon. very rich.
Full body and moderately fizzy
actually might be a bit too sweet & bourbony. alcohol balances pretty well but not as much as possible.
taste is a gorgeous, sweet dark chocolate, rich bourbon and raisins, maple syrup. if this was a tad less sweet it would be amazing! I couldn’t drink very much of this, much less a whole bottle.
