"BCS rare, I’m excited. Brewed in 2008, aged for 24 months in 23 year old Pappy Van Winkle Barrels. These are the very best smelling barrels I’ve come across in 18 years of barrel aging beer. Barrels were originally filled with spirit in 1985. We have 50 bourbon barrels aging, it will be a one time bottling, it will not be repeated."

Bottle at The Stout Tasting Part I, London - big thanks to Bruce. Vintage 2010, bottle #1118. Pours rich, brown-black with a tight, beige cream head. Big dark malt nose with ripe and dark fruits, cake and bread. Big sweet flavor with heavy dark malts, creamy chocolate, rich bread, some bitter earth, torched wood. Full bodied with fine carbonation and a chewy mouthfeel. Hot finish with rich, dark bread, light bitter earth, prunes, big alcohol, raisins. Very robust. Quite nuanced but still powerful. I like it pretty much the same as regular BCS.

Bottle, huge thanks to tkrjukoff. Pitch black beer with a small brown head. Oily whisky aroma, malty, oaky, vanilla, milky notes, figs and raisins, some blanced smoke notes, hops, almond, chocolate and cocoa powder, Malty flavor, oily, roasted, some smoke, chocolate, whiskty, oak, figs, raisins, dades, some hops, some fruits. Some alcohol showing, but in a good way, hay notes, licorice and almond. A beer with a long lovely warming feeling and then it turns into a smooth balanced chocolate finish with whisky oak, and some figs. Huge body and with a perfect mouthfeel. Absolutley wonderful!!!

A: The pour is thick and black with a finger of tan head. S: Wonderful bourbon and vanilla aromas with lots of rich, dark chocolate. Solid amounts of roasted malts with more chocolate and bourbon. A bit of molasses, caramel, and maple syrup, and oak. T: Decadent is a good way to describe this beer. Fantastic bourbon, vanilla, and chocolate flavors throughout. Wood and roasted malts with a bit of caramel and molasses. Nowhere near as boozy as regular Bourbon County, which is a big plus. M: Full in body with a smooth, silky feel on the tongue. O: I had put off looking to try this beer due to the cost (still don’t think it’s worth $45), but it is a really great one.

Thank you, yespr. The aroma is alcoholic and roasted. Has some port and vanilla. Black colour, looks oily. The flavour is sweet and sugary with a distinct vanilla flavour and an equally distinct alcohol afterburn. A bit much, but good.

Bottle (#5253) at Yespr - Blind Tasting #13. Pitch black - brown head. Bourbon - lots of bourbon, sweetness, high sweetness, toffee, vanilla, licorice, light hoppy, boozy, sharpness, dark chocolate, nice complexity. Lovely.

22 oz. bottle, pours jet black with a small ring of light brown head. Aroma is uber-complex and decadent, with the finest bourbon barrel presence I’ve detected on a BA-stout nose, underlain with vanilla and molasses - uber-complex. Flavour is incredibly complex, rich, deep, decadent... wow. Perhaps never tasted a BA-stout so complex and so finely affected by the barrels. Listing off flavours won’t do this justice, but it contains uber-complex bourbon barrels, light vanilla, molasses and a quite noticeable alcohol sting - slightly more so than the regular BCS. Finishes with vanilla, bourbon and alcohol. Masterpiece of a BA-stout, (though I actually still prefer the coffee version of the BCS) - surely a treat.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2015 Bottle [no. 11341] shared by kermis. HUGE HUGE THANKS MAN! INSANE! Opaque black color, small dark brown head that diminishes quite quickly. Aroma is malts, loads of liquor, lightly vanilla. Taste malts, whisky, vanilla, a hint of liquorice, softly bitter. Full flavored, full body, oily texture, soft suitable carbonation. Lovely. Absolutely lovely.

Bottle 1496 of bottling 19/11/2010 @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus, Joes, Countbeer, Abijen and Judyvv. Opaque black color, average sized light brown head. Aroma is malts, some alcohol, a hint of chocolate, bourbon, vanilla. Tastes about the same: malts, bourbon, vanilla, lightly an alcohol burn. Intense. [Score not altered]

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured dark reddish brown hue with a minmal fizzy light brown head that mostly diminished with little lacing. Aroma was a heavy toasted chocolate malt, vanilla and woody bourbon. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Heavy complex toasted malt, vanilla and bourbon flavor and a heavy complex sweet finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.

Bomber poured a clear dark brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of bourbon, vanilla, oak, dark chocolate and light roastiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bourbon, vanilla, oak, dark chocolate and light roastiness with a smooth dry lingering bourbon finish.
