4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Fortunate enough to try this from a coworkerís bottle. Comparing to the original BCBS, this has a bit more bite, flavors are more smoothed together.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle pours thick jet black with tan head. Aroma is nice. Strong chocolate and bourbon. I could smell this all day and night. Just wonderful. Flavor is what you expect from bourbon county. The chocolate, coffee notes, and that wonderful bourbon note. A touch of soy in there as well. The bourbon is smoother than the regular version. Just outstanding.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle, courtesy degarth. Pours dark brown with some red highlights, lacing and head are both minimal. Nose is strong on smooth bourbon with chocolate and vanilla. Flavor is so damn smooth with the bourbon. It turns the base beer into something incredibly drinkable and delicious. Loved it.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle at tasting, courtesy of Enjoyit - thanks! Inky black pour, no head to speak of. This beauty has a huge bourbon aroma - lots of coconut and vanilla, lush chocolate, vanilla iced cream, wood, french nougat, sweet figs and dark berries, some alcohol. Basically pretty much like regular BCS, but the bourbon notes are out of this world. The epitome of Bourbon barrel aging. The taste reveals all that I love about BCS. Has the basic BCS things going on malt wise, but again the barrel qualities are through the roof. Coconut, vanilla, wet wood, slightly spicy woody. Everything comes together beautifully. There is quite some alcohol presence, but it doesnít make it any lesser of a masterpiece. I love this. I love BCS. Fucken hell.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
finally. this beautiful nectar marks my ascendancy the status of beer god. i must say, itís been a glorious journey. so without further ado...here is rating #1000.
22oz bottle, #2378, bottled 11/19/10 courtesy of myself. pours an absolutely gorgeous, velvety black with a smooth, decadent yet delicate mocha brown head that leaves beautiful slivers of lace around the edges. aroma is absolutely stunning, this is a true bourbon drinkers beer, with the most elegant, rich, smooth notes of charred oak, vanilla, toast, and peppery spice that iíve ever experienced backed by dark chocolate, roasty espresso, and lovely earthy notes that are complimented by subtle molasses, graham cracker, and figs with a unique touch of cinnamon-raisin bread as it warms. flavor damn near rendered me thoughtless after the first sip. as i collected myself, one simple word came to my mind...sublime. up front this marvel of a beer presents decadent notes of toasted oak, coconut, vanilla nougat, and the worldís finest bourbon that makes itís presence felt with a spirit-warming heat that is quickly tamed by notes of a world class imperial stout in the form of bittersweet dark chocolate, molasses, and espresso with rich dark fruit notes of fig, date, and plum emerging just ahead of the subtle complexity offered by hints of leather, toffee, maple, and wet earth. palate is smooth as silk, as i imagine the PVW bourbon is, with elegant carbonation and a rich, woody, and slightly dry finish that lasts an eternity and offers a perfect balance of sweetness and heat. overall, iíve had some pretty incredible beers on my journey to #1000, and iíve rated quite a few a perfect 5, but iím not sure that any of them can match the perfect balance of complexity, elegance, and masterful barrel aging of this one. thank you, goose island and cheers to Ratebeer!

4.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
UPDATED: DEC 4, 2012 100th Imperial Stout rating. Pours a pitch black color with a nice tan head. Aroma is super complex, I get lots of barrel character, lots of bourbon, oak, vanilla, coconut, bourbon soaked raisins, roasted malt, prunes, dark fruits, coffee, dark chocolate, tobacco, cocoa nibs, dark caramel, molasses and fudge. The flavor follows the nose with tons of barrel character, the bourbon, oak, vanilla, coconut, bourbon soaked raisins, prunes, roasted malt, coffee, dark fruits, tobacco, cocoa nibs, dark caramel, fudge, molasses and dark chocolate. Wow this is soooooo complex!! The body is full with a sticky and creamy mouth feel. By far the best Imperial Stout I have had, and probably one of my all time favorite beers!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: SEP 19, 2011 Big thanks to Ben aka Hojaminbag for busting this one out at 3:30am the other night to compare to the í07 DL. Bottle poured into a taster glass.
A - Pours opaque black with a nice half finger tall deep tan head leaving light wisps of lacing down the glass. The pour was just ok.
S - Smells of rich bourbon heat, sweet chocolate, vanilla, espresso, and wood offer some contrast to all the dark roast hidden within this beers core. The bourbon heat was a little overpowering toward the end. Based on the smell this one could use a bit more time to mellow out. It actually kinda smells like the DL at this point.
T - This one tastes just like you think it would. Tons of dark roast blends in well with the chocolate sweetness, vanilla, wood, and warming bourbon heat. This one is a bit more earthy than the DL. The finish is mostly roasted heat lingering for some time. I like how this one isnít overly sweet like the DL is, more of a well rounded barrel aged stout. The pappy barrels really did their magic on this one. Glad I finally go to try this one.
M - Very heavy body and flavor with moderate carbonation. This is one heavy beer on the pallet with a mix of deep roast and bourbon heat in the finish.
O - I thought this one was pretty good. I think it is still kinda rough around the edges but it should mature beautifully over the next few years. I look forward to having it again in the future.

Pours black with a thin brown head. Looks great. Aroma is amazing! Huge bourbon aroma mingling with classic stout aroma. Oh, my god that tastes amazing. Oak. Chocolate bourbon. Roasted malt. It jargon and burly and woody. Vanilla comes through as well. The flavour never stops. It lingers for ever and is amazing. I love it. This is one of the most amazing beers I have ever had. Its pushing the flavour envelope and blowing my mind.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap!! Black with a small ring of light brown head. The aroma is huge on bourbon barrel, with lots of smooth chocolate and vanilla, some alcohol, and faint dark fruit. The flavor is super smooth, with lots of chocolate and residual sugar. Nice mellow whiskey and vanilla, with a bit of cherry on the finish. Incredibly smooth, viscous body reminds me of melted ice cream. Amazing.

Bottle share thanks to Homer321. Pours a deep dark thick, black, color with minimal light brown head. Smooth, sweet bourbon aroma up front, barrel notes - oak and vanilla, big caramel, toffee malt character follows. Huge malty toffee flavor, lots toasty melanoidans, big bourbon character follows and carries through to the finish. Overall, very smooth, huge flavor, lots of boost and xo tasty.
