a HUGE thanx to whoever shared this on BBF 12. my first vanilla beer so this was rather extreme smells very vanilla, heavy tastes onbley like vanilla to mee, wich is just simply too much for the first time. maybe i’ll rate this higher in the future, but right now its a bit over the top to me.

Smell is bourbon, vanilla, and caramel. Tastes like a smoother version of BCBS with vanilla added. Thick and smooth.

Midsommar 2015 i Nolsterby. Årgång 2010, flaska som Randall lämnat (thanks!) Delikat och balanserad bourbon. Flytande mörk choklad. Alltid kul att dricka historia. Svaga lagringstoner som troligen inte vinner på längre lagring. Rund och len.

Bottle shared @ Dangerous Bottleshares #11. Big fuckin thanks to MotherBrother for bringing this! Been wanting this for so long. Pours pitch black with a small dark brown head. Aromas of vanilla, dark chocolate, milky chocolate, chocolate fudge, caramel, roast, lots of barrel notes; bourbon, oaky notes. Taste is sweet, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, roast, fudge, roasted coconut, vanilla, light licorice, oaky notes, dry finish. Damn, this is good!

Shared with the Dangerous Crew. Pour that characteristic BCBS inky black, brown/reddish hue, alcohol lacing, with a small khaki head. Aroma on this bad boy has plenty of vanilla, slight coffee, some brownie/cake like goodness to it. Chocolate fudge, and surprisingly roasted considering the age. Yes, plenty of wood/oak and barrel. Taste is pretty sweet, with some very well balancing bitter notes. Medium - semi full bodied, with a semi flat carbonation, that sparkles ever so slightly on the tongue. Some faint oaky tannins somewhere in this. I can’t thank my friend Brian a.k.a mr. Boogy enough for letting me have a go at this sob. Thanks buddy.

Bottle @ Dangerous Bottleshare 11.0 Thanks to Motherbrother. Pitch black pour with tiny tan lacings. Nose has light soy, vanilla, light roast and caramel. Taste has sweet vanilla, caramel, smooth, light roast and some malty sweet notes. Drinking real nice!

Sample in a little snifter, from a 2010 bottle at the Leuven Innovation Beer Festival (25 V 2015). I am very glad to have been one of the few festival members to try the only bottle Goose Island brought along. OK, this is not much different from the "Vanilla Rye" version, yet the age of the bottle makes this 13.0% in alcohol edition somehow fuller bodied than the 14.2% edition. The barrels are different too: bourbon instead of whiskey. Yet the general flavours and taste are similar. Think of a stout with a clear sugar and vanilla balance. Add some chocolate and even caramel flavours, and you have a thick, oily stout with portwine notes and... well... a distinctive ice cream touch. Erm... I love it.

2010 bottle thanks to my man, MotherBrother @Dangerous Bottleshares #11!! Had this long time ago, very excited to try this again!! Pours a pitch black with a small, brown head. Aroma has lots of vanilla, very roasty, sweet licorice, very explicit bourbon notes, chocolate, some alcohol, cake and milk cocolate. Taste is sweet and oily, and with huge vanilla, booze, roasty finish, slight salt. Oh my! The aging suits this very well!

it was high time I cracked it open but now I wish I’d bought more! Rich, decadent, smooth, vanilla, gentle caress of whiskey, chocolate, coffee, toasty so smooth, syrupy warming vanilla spice, fragrant, never cloying, delicious

April 10, 2015. Bottle at home. Rating #2000.
Black with a small brown head. Aroma is sweet and quite boozy with bourbon, vanilla, caramel, alcohol, chocolate, dried fruits and light coffee notes. Taste is sweet bourbon, vanilla, toffee with dried fruits, vanilla, chocolate and warming alcohol in the finish. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation.

Fairly sweet with strong vanilla and slight caramel and burnt sugar. Quite a supper but exceptional.
