4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
My 200th rating thought I would have something special.
2012 in 12oz bottle. Aromatics start hard with bourbon and vanilla. Straight carmelly, boozy, and fruity. Lots of dark fruiting this. Appearance is deep dark black. When swirled you can see that it is actually a deep dark brown, like molasses. Very little head. Taste is complex. Starts with dark fruit, specifically raisins and dates. Then it grows sweeter into brown sugar and caramel. Lingering with a slight bitterness. Palates deep and viscous. It gives quite a mouthfeel, very pleasant. Overall, I canít wait to age this and try the coffee and cherry soon!

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours black with almost no dark tan head. Aroma is all bourbon. This is not my type of beer. Doesnít really taste like beer, more like liqueur. Taste is sweet bourbon and thatís about it.

Great nose....perfect body for a stout. The taste is a little boozy, but after aging it for a year it becomes absolutely amazing. Keeping yourself from drinking it and allowing this one to age is not the easiest thing to do.

4.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Not much on aroma, but full on taste. Black in color, pours thick. Very sweet taste, though not a malty sweet. Tastes of chocolate, vanilla, and raisin. Sweet chocolatey finish.

2014 12oz bottle. Pours dark black with minimal ring around the top. Strong caramel and toffee notes with some bourbon. Taste the same with slight booze. Nice balanced sweetness. Really amazing stuff!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. Bottle of 2014 from a 4 pack. Pours a midnight color with a slight opaque tan rim with a frothy dark tan head. Itís all bourbon on the nose with a hint of caramel. The complexity of malts, toasted caramel, bourbon booze, vanilla bean, and roasty earth flavors go in and out. The palate is smooth and full bodied.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
2012 bottle pour into a snifter the darkest brownest of black with almost not head.
Aroma is like boozy molasses.
Taste reminds me of dark Karo syrup. Like thick distinctive molasses. Age makes this even distinct. Love the bland of vanilla dark fruits as well.
Truly an outstanding imperial stout. Every. Year.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aromas: heavy bourbon, vanilla, dried currents, bread, roasted aromas, alcohol, wood.
Appearance: dark brown, almost black, no head.
Taste: lots of alcohol sweetness, bitterness under the alcohol.
Palate: heavy body, a bit oily, creamy. Fairly carbonated mouthfeel despite the lack of a head.
Finish: lots of alcohol, some carbonation, coffee, lots of bourbon, a little burning like they added pure bourbon to the beer.
Overall this a complex interesting beer. Itís the first bourbon barrel stout Iíve had that has a burning sensation in your mouth like it has pure bourbon added to it. Still itís a bit over the top too, almost like a mixed drink rather than a beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Kind of too strong on the bourbon side. These seasonal blends are tough to do right, and they leaned a bit left with the liquor taste. Definitely meant to be sipped. Still tasty, but canít touch Backwoodís Bastard.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
2014. Appearance is jet black with no apparent head. Aroma is an intense bourbon, oak, vanilla, chocolate, cherry, roasted malt, and molasses. Taste is amazingly complex. Starts with rich malt and dark fruit, giving way to layers of fruit, chocolate, molasses, toasted oak, and roasted malt. Mouthfeel is a rich creamy viscosity, hint of alcohol warmth, with little carbonation. Finishes with a malty finish and lingering flavors of oak, vanilla, and chocolate
