4.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This is one of the best imperial stouts I have ever tasted. So rich, with a straight bourbon nose that leads into smooth dark chocolate on the palate. Finishes with a bitterness that only adds to its dark chocolate flavor. Itís almost 15 percent ABV but you canít taste it.

Thereís really not much else to say about this that hasnít already been stated. It gets better with time and the new 2013 is off the charts! Do yourself a favor and seek this out if you have never had the chance to drink one.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Aces and Ales. Assume 2013 vintage. Pours black with a coffee brown head. Aroma of raisin, roasted malt, caramel, licorice, dark chocolate. A powerful brew with flavors of licorice, dark chocolate, raisiin, vanilla. Canít really hide the abv. A big beer!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a snifter tasting glass at about room temperature.
Aroma - Over powering smoke and wood smell. Some dark chocolate, leather, vanilla, and licorice.
Appearance - Dark coffee pour with about two finger head. Has some carbonation and very little lacing at the top of glass.
Taste - Bourbon, wood, chocolate, and black licorice.
Palate - Very complex taste but the bourbon and wood stands out with a dry sweet finish.
Overall - Hopefully, overtime it becomes better as some ingredients mellow out and some mixed in more. First time tasting it and I have to say its worth seeking out if you are a bourbon or oak aged beer lover like me.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle share taster. 2013. Black body with dark brown edges. Aroma is super hot with bourbon, traces of the dark chocolate fill the sinus cavity after, with licorice. A lot. Taste is very sweet. Dry, tingly finish. Will mellow out nicely over the next few years. Pretty hot right now.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2013 Bottle. Pours a deep black with very little head or lace. Aroma is most noticeably bourbon, with shortbread cookie and caramel. Flavor is richly malty, toffee, caramel, and the wonderful bourbon. Low carbonation helps keep the "spirit" of this one, alcohol well hidden. Fine beer that I think is worthy of the hype.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black as night, strong enough to be bourbon and coke. Rich coffee, vanilla, and chocolate with a shot of whiskey right in the middle. Great tasting overall just a little strong on the bourbon.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
A 14.9 ABV Stout which drinks accordingly. Very black in the glass with not much head. Itís overall demeanor is like a kick in the head. If you drink for taste, however, you will do better if you dial it down to a lesser ABV. (Bellís Expedition, for instance).

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draft in a snifter. Came a dark black with faint beige head. Aroma of chocolate, molasses, coffee and bourbon. Taste is more of the same. Sweet almost cloyingly so, but not crossing the line. 15% alcohol? Where? Holy Crap its sneaky. Despite being so sweet it is not appreciably sticky. Good Stuff.

I have to admit, I was wondering what all the hype was about. Honestly....it was ALL worth it! This beer is seriously unbelievable. I would give you appearance, taste, smell etc. But you can read all those below. Just know that a person that was skeptical about the hype is now a believer.
