4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 therabidweasel (1) - - FEB 20, 2013Scored a log of this, drinking it nightly off the tap at 14psi CO2 only. All flavors listed below combined into a sticky sweet hammer you beat your taste buds with. Flows over the tongue like thick silk drapes dissipating into waves of tiny alcoholic needles stabbing at the tongue. Roasty bitterness on the sides of the tongue and a final puff of boozy vanilla oak up the nose. Alcohol cools the sinuses for several breathes after each swallow. Very unique, very impressive, impossible to fully explain in words. A wonderful experience, a nap in every bottle, best at nearly room temperature.

Hard to drink a 12 oz alone. This beer is so boozy and rich plan on spending a long time drinking a bottle trying to figure out all of the complexities. This is definitely a sipper. Dark chocolate vanilla and dark fruits.

Clear dark, almost black colour, beige dissipating head. Aroma of Bourbon, vanilla, chocolate and alcohol. Sweet flavour, light astringent, alcohol, Bourbon, vanilla. Wood, chocolate, sweet. Full body, thick, maybe even too thick. Finish Bourbon, alcohol, lots of vanilla.
Great beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 dnicolaescu (99) - Chișinău, MOLDOVA - MAY 16, 2013
Head: beige, minuscule, no retention. Colour: deep amber, practically black opaque.
Aroma: sweet, dark fruit, molasses, syrupy, vanilla, a bit of alcohol. Taste: starts very sweet and syrupy, some roasted sourness follows and finishes with a spicy alcoholic bitterness. Not much bourbon or wood detected. Intense, fine, but a bit overrated imho.

Bottle @ benzai. Thx for sharing! Pitch black colour with a lovely brown head, which unfortunately doesn’t last very long. Smells vanilla, coffee, dark chocolate, lots of bourbon, caramel, nuts. Tastes lots of dark chocolate, lots of bourbon, some vanilla, lovely roasty, nuts. The taste keeps on growing after the sip. Lasting taste. Full body, silky, soft carbo. The aftertaste is lovely. Slightly warming but not too alcoholic. Love it.
4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 djroehler (150) - Minnesota, USA - MAY 14, 2013
Pour on tap at bricks. Viscous black with thin dark mocha head. Burnt oak and vanilla, rich bourbon, cinnamon and cloves nose. Taste is rich vanilla and hard charred oak, slight cream, coffee and chocolate mid palate, dark dried fruits. Body is big, but not crazy, with a creamy texture and light carbonation and alcohol slightly showing through.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 BlowOffTube (49) - Michigan, USA - MAY 12, 2013
2008, poured black with this tan head. Aroma of chocolate bourbon and hints of vanilla. Aged perfect! Taste is velvety smooth chocolate, vanilla all blended awesome with a rich bourbon backbone. Carbonation is spot on with a thick body to hold such a complex taste. Awesome! Wow. Thank you Foppa!
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hopbomber (87) - Manchester, Greater Manchester, ENGLAND - MAY 12, 2013
Pours pitch black with light brown head surprising amount of carbonation given the percentage. Aroma is Bourbon, hints of chocolate and hops.
Taste is creamy chocolate, caramel, dark malts and fruit and of course Bourbon.
I feel the Bourbon overpowers it thats almost all I got in the aftertaste its like an imperial stout with a shot of Bourbon inside. Good, not great.

Bottle acquired through trade - thanks Kevin! Aroma big bourbon, chocolate, smoke, vanilla. Pours viscous, near black, no head, no lacing, just viscous black bourbon. Taste: nice bitter finish, chocolate, smoke, big sticky sweetness. Viscous, sticky texture, full body, practically no carb. Overall: meets expectations. Fantastic.
