Commercial Description:
"I really wanted to do something special for our 1000th batch at the original brewpub. Goose Island could have thrown a party. But we did something better. We brewed a beer. A really big batch of stout-so big the malt was coming out of the top of the mash tun. After fermentation we brought in some bourbon barrels to age the stout. One hundred and fifty days later, Bourbon County Stout was born-A liquid as dark and dense as a black hole with a thick foam the color of bourbon barrels. The nose is a mix of charred oak, vanilla, carmel and smoke. One sip has more flavor than your average case of beer. It overpowers anything in the room. People have even said that it's a great cigar beer, but I haven't yet tried a cigar that would stand up to it." Brewmaster Greg Hall; IBU's 60-High Color - Midnight Was 11%, the 2007 is listed at 13%

Bottle thanks to CMUBEERMAN. Pours dirty car oil, tan head: looks really dirty and oily. Aroma is anise, caramel, chocolate, coffee, roasted nuts, pine. Flavor the same with bourbon and the body is very oily. Nice coffee/vanilla/roasted nuts finish. Intense but I still prefer Founders Kentucky Breakfast Bourbon Aged Stout (what a beer!)

2004 bottle courtesy of Tony @ OTH. Pours absolute black, nose is liquorish. Aroma is very roasty with a strong presence of coffee / chocolate malts and this ever presence of light bourbon wood. An outstanding imperial stout.

Aroma of chocolate and light coffee bourbon and abv. Dark black pour with thick brown head and lace. Huge chocoffee flavor with bourbon tones. Semi sweet malt flavor witha very good bitter finish. Very good abv warmth as well. Rich full bodied palate with excellent carbonation. An excellent beer all round.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 1 July 2008) Black colour with brief, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with vanilla, oak, ashes, liquorice and strong espresso. Malty, roasted taste with notes of liquorice, vanilla, bourbon, espresso, chocolate pudding, cocoa powder and distinct flavours of charred oak wood. Fairly sweet, full body. Very powerfull with fiery alcohol notes coming through. Not really balanced but very tasty. Lovely sipping beer with lots of character.

12 oz bottle from 2007. Looks like syrup and smells like watered-down bourbon and chocolate with hints of oak. Has a delicious malty, mouthfeel. It finishes with a delicious mix of bourbon and malt.s

2007 12 oz bottle pours almost black and vey syrupy with a small caramel colored head. Sweet aromas of roasted malts, caramel, and whiskey/bourbon. Tastes of sweet malts, bitter chocolate, hints of toffee. Big thick stout with flavors to match. A perfect example of an imperial stout.
