JohnQPublic (71), Brooklyn, New York, USA Mar 11, 2008 Updated: Jun 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours like used motor oil, thick and opaque black. Almost no head. Nose is huge: vanilla, chocolate, oak, bourbon. Delicious. Little carbonation. Flavor is just as big as the nose, and just as delicious: huge dark malt, bourbon, coffee, chocolate. Undeniably smooth drinking. Palate is thick, coats the mouth. Finishes long and smooth. Beer is definitely a slow sipper, but even with the bourbon taste, it’s smoother than any bourbon.

Pours absolute black, nose is liquorish.
Aroma is very roasty with a strong presence of coffee / chocolate malts and this ever presence of light bourbon wood.

Malty, roasted nose with vanilla, oak, ashes, liquorice and strong espresso. Malty, roasted taste with notes of liquorice, vanilla, bourbon, espresso, chocolate pudding, cocoa powder and distinct flavours of charred oak wood. Fairly sweet, full body. Very powerfull with fiery alcohol notes coming through. Not really balanced but very tasty. Lovely sipping beer with lots of character.
